Why doesn't Loki look like a Giant?

It has been mentioned many times that Loki is a Jotun (or half-Jotun). Why does he look like an Aesir? The same thing can be said about Bor, Odin's father.

Loki is of giant blood, but he's also very adept at shape-changing. He's probably taken on the form that he feels best suits his current situation.

Kind of the other way around. Loki is a midget of the Giant race. He's the runt of the litter. Who, according to JMS, used magic to disguise the less-than-Aesir-looking traits, like the pale skin and the horn marks.

According to an old Marvel Handbook entry on the Giants of Jontunheim, Loki may have an a non-giant mother.

Skurge the Executioner had a giant father and a goddess mother. he was taller than the average Asgardian but smaller than the average giant.

Loki is a pure giant when it comes to his parentage. Ever since the earliest stories it has been established that Loki is a runt. Sort of the giant version of a midget. For this reason his father was ashamed of him, hid him away, and in some versions even beat him. He also tended to be far smarter than most giants making him an outcast for another reason.

Loki often claims of royal blood. Whether or not it is from Odin or Laufey varies with the writer and what ever he is plotting at the time. His biological father was a king among the giants which is one reason Odin adopted him. The source of Loki's powers is somewhat debated. One interpretation is all of his powers are from his giant heritage. He is one of the few giants intelligent enough to be adept at sorcery. Another interpretation is after Loki was adopted Odin did something to him to give him the powers of a god. Loki's talent for sorcery comes from this.

If Loki can turn himself into a jet plane or a horse, which he has done in the past, I don't see why his height would be a big issue.
