Its a bit late to try for a team book approach when the Red Circle line is all but dead.

I'm on the fence about this book. I liked the Shield and Web but I'm not sure if I want them in a team book, and the $5 price tag isn't helping much. I guess I'll flip through this in the store and see if it's good enough to buy.

So this is a setup for a new team based book featuring these chars? Interesting

This is a one shot, or a setup for a new ongoing team series?

It's a one shot that leads into the Mighty Crusaders mini series coming in July:

Written by ERIC TRAUTMANN & BRANDON JERWA • Art by JULIAN LOPEZ & JOHN LUCAS • Cover by STANLEY "ARTGERM" LAU • 1:10 Variant cover by IAN CHURCHILL
Fellow Americans, we are pleased to introduce you to your official government superhero team – the Mighty Crusaders! The Red Circle has closed, and the mystery around it has grown into a full-blown conspiracy that The Shield, The Web, The Comet, Inferno, Fly-Girl and War Eagle must publicly investigate. But first, the team faces great loss and great obstacles, even when it comes to dealing with each other!

Written by Eric Trautmann (ACTION COMICS, THE SHIELD) and Brandon Jerwa (INFERNO, THE FOX) and drawn by Julian Lopez (SUPERMAN, ADVENTURE COMICS), this new monthly series brings together the Red Circle heroes to investigate a massive mystery in the DC Universe and features action, intrigue and giant robots. You dare not miss it!

Me too, because I enjoy The Web and The Shield a lot. Too bad they are going to end their run soon.

It looks good enough but it would have been nice to see more than just the Web in a preview for what is a team book. They really should have started off with the team approach from the beginning. It should be Comic Book Publishing 101.

I wasn't much help to DC here in that I vowed not to buy any JMS books until he wrapped up Marvel's The Twelve. It's been a pretty easy vow to keep.

So- can we actually review the preview here? i have to say, i learned more about the crusaders here then i did in their own books. Hangman is especailly interesting, but I need a little background info on Inferno. And the Comet just looks weird.

Really liked the Persian.

I bought it for shits and giggles and was pleasantly surprised, especially with the art. It looked really great! I think that the story was entertaining overall. I wasn't too crazy about the Persian, but that's because I'm half-Iranian and tired of Middle Easterners being demonized in comics.

Overall, I think I'll give the mini a shot and I think this one-shot was worth it. Great art, fun story with excellent pacing and dialogue.

i was thinking,

how are they going to get around the whole thing with hangman and his powers that only work at night?

will they just be The Crusaders at night?

A Red Circle double bill this week!

Mighty Crusaders was AWESOME!!! Better, I think, than Secret Avengers (given that it was the other first issue team book this week).

The storyline provided a really organic, and natural reason for the origin of the team ... and each player got a chance to shine.

And the art was incredibly well done.

Other than the Thanos Imperative book, this was the best thing I read this week. In many ways, very "by the numbers" -- but in most ways not. Very well done.

I think the Hangman only shows for certain occasions (ala the Spectre in JSA).

Other than that, I thought this was an awesome read. The art was fantastic, and the storyline regarding the origin of the team felt natural. I really hope this does well.

I liked it...still wish Jaguar and Fox were on the team, and that Fly Girl would drop the Girl from her name.

Well, Hangman just won't be able to join them on day missions.
