I dunno, he's a bit of a generic evil demon lord isn't he? In the early 80s he was ground-breaking with his seduction of Raven's mother but I can't think of anything especially interesting about him.

The look is very unique, and he has a strong connection to one of the well known champions Raven in the DC Universe.

True, the 4 eyed look is good and creepy, one of the best designs Perez has come up with.

And there was a loooooooong build-up to his attack on Earth. He was the cornerstone of the epic feel of NTT.
