What are your favorite renditions of different Spider-man characters?

Currently Marcos Martin draws my favorite Spider-man.

My favorite Green Goblin at the moment. I think this is by Frank Cho, I'm not sure. But when the Green goblin returns to ASM, the artist who did this should definitely be the artist for that arc.

I am with you Marcos' Spidey.....it is just tremendous. Not that happy with Cho's Gobby; I am partial to JR SR's Goblin myself but of the current artists? Hmmmmmm, I have to think about that one....haven't seen him in costume much the last few years so lemme chew on it!

Very, very similar to JR SR's version.....almost too similar for me.....almost has a "traced" quality to it. Not accusing him of it, but it just looks too close to the JR SR version of the mid-70's with maybe a smidge of Ross Andru's as well.

I actually dig Kraven the Hunter's design in the 90's animated series. His original design makes him look too effiminate.

Cannot argue with Molina's Doc Ock from SM 2; that was pitch-perfect.

Not a huge fan of Deodato's MJ; something about her eyes always look off-center to me. Her body shots are great and I liked his Spidey (at least for the darker stories, which they were pretty dark during his time on the book, so that worked) but his "civilian" faces were often off, at least to me.

His MJ seems pretty inconsistent here. Lower left panel looks pretty bad but the very next panel on the lower right looks great. I could understand inconsistent from maybe front of the book to a page in the back but one panel to the next is just lazy I think. That being said as I mentioned in my post before this I think he has stepped up his game lately.

I hear you.
Paul Azaceta in some pannels do drawn a Spider-Man looking fat.
Still his gritty style which in urban stories which is a common theme of Spider-Man stories work well, plus he drawn well architecture and civilians.
And his layouts for both funny or dramatic scenes with Spider-Man had been cool in the stories so far.Just in Amazing Spider-Man#623 that is a perfect example of that like the funny scene of Spider-Man against the Simple Simon and the dramatic cliffhanger of the end of that same issue.
In both scenes,Spider-Man itself was well drawned in the context of those scenes.
For all that it makes it up to some panels in which Spider-Man is looking fat.

Loved that story but Ramos is one of very few artists whose style I dislike so much that it really impacts my enjoyment of the story. In this case, I find it so distracting that it took me out of the story, similar to Canete's work on ASM #611 last year.

Actually in the bottom right panel of the pic posted by arp2008 she looks like a young Daryl Hannah to me. I'd almost be willing to bet that's who she's based on ala TLJ for Norman.....almost.

Knowing Deodato and his penchant for tracing, I wouldn't be surprised.

John Romita, Ross Andru, and Gil Kane probably had the most classic Spider-Man, but as far as modern Spider-Man, I can't believe no one seemed to mention Mark Bagley. Todd Mcfarlane really changed Spider-Man to his more modern look, but I feel that Mark Bagley really refined it:

Romita Sr. will always be the #1 Spidey artist in my eyes.
My current favorite is McNiven and you're right about Bags. His Spidey is the Spidey of the last decade or so evidenced by the fact that it's usually his version that is portrayed on the majority of current Spidey merchandise (and normally JRSR's version if it's classic look Spidey merchandise).

Not a fan of the Lizard redesign since it's based on an iguana and looks less like a croc and crocs are much scarier than iguanas. Although I will admit it looks pretty scary compared to a regular fruit eating iguana at the pet shop. Also his arms are kinda small and look like they'd be pretty useless in a fight, sort of like this guy:

While I disagree and really like Bagley's art, I will say, I did not enjoy his Spider-Man as much in Ultimate Spider-Man as I did in Amazing. I am not exactly sure why, maybe because he switched inkers from Larry Mahlstedt to Art Thibert; or maybe he simply was getting tired of drawing him by that point.

Man, Ringo is one of those artists that I just did not appreciate at the time. I remember picking up the Prowler story he did just after the clone saga and thinking “what the hell is this crap?”. Then I fell in love with his art during his F4 run and have since gone back and bought a lot of Sensational back-issues. Great stuff. Clearly teenage me was out of his mind.

I’m making it a point to avoid naming a favorite for Peter Parker or Spider-Man – mostly because I like a lot of greatly varied interpretations and some are great with one and not with the other – but Ringo is up there on both.

Not a huge fan of Deodato's MJ; something about her eyes always look off-center to me. Her body shots are great and I liked his Spidey (at least for the darker stories, which they were pretty dark during his time on the book, so that worked) but his "civilian" faces were often off, at least to me.
