Finally read #4, and Volstagg continues to rock. Not only does he stop Osborn's attempt at flight, but he goes back to Chicago to help with the cleanup of Soldier Field, since he feels some responsibility despite it being almost entirely the fault of the U-Foes and Osborn.
He should totally move there permanently and become a local hero after testifying at the trial of the U-Foes. Maybe the Great Lakes Avengers could move from Wisconsin to Illinois and he could be on the same team with Squirrel Girl... or would that be too much sheer awesome in one place?
And if Volstagg's wife and kids weren't resurrected by Thor in the JMS run (and we've never seen any sign of them), Big Bertha might be his kind of woman.

I found the whole series pretty light weight. It really adds very little to the Siege storyline, unless you are a big fan of Urich. They pretty much follow Volstagg around and that's about it. I wonder if they will get to break the story about the U-Foes and Chicago.

Only part of it, and only if the former Avengers Resistance guys turn over the financials they uncovered to Frontline. Mainly, the story will be broken by the U-Foes flipping on Osborn for the slightest chance of reduced sentences (which in this case, may mean merely a chance of escaping the death penalty). After all, it's already established that the U-Foes were there, and now it's pretty firmly established that Osborn wasn't really reforming the supervillains under his command, that plus Volstagg not being sought in connection with Soldier Field any longer pretty much equals people have realized where the fault truly lies, and the U-Foes are on the hot seat.

I thought it was a big waste of paper- it's nothing that Volstagg could not have accomplished in the Thor book (instead of that useless Tyr subplot that went nowhere).
Urich's involvment felt forced and since you KNOW he's not going to get harmed or killed, there was no drama to the run for me.
Add this to Frontline and that Secret Invasion mini and you get a trifecta of suck.
0/10 stars.

I didn't pick up Dark Avengers or whatever Siege tie-in it was. Instead I just picked up Embedded, the title book, and Fallen Sun.
But I honestly thought this issue flowed so much better than the main Siege issue did. It's not real eventful, but at least it flows better. By far my favorite Siege issue I picked up.

So was there an editorial comment afterwords, that foresaw the Heroic Age, and blew the lid off the Soldier field evidence?

No afterword, but by the last panel, the rainbow bridge is hooked up to Avengers tower, so I think we're solidly in the Heroic Age already.
As for evidence - Ben and Will mainly saw how HAMMER was operating behind the scenes and got the chance to talk to Volstagg; I believe it was actually the Avengers Resistance over in A:I who uncovered the massive payments to the U-Foes right before and after Soldier Field. It remains to be seen whether those pieces will be put together so that the deaths at Soldier Field are one of the things Osborn goes down for, as one would devoutly hope.

Thanks for that. I would have hoped that evidence on Soldier Field happened in Embedded, but lets hope it happens in a future book: maybe the Heroic Age 4 issue mini?

Am I the only one who likes the Ben Urich stuff when they do events. I would love to see a Frontline ongoing book.

The Frontline books have been a fav of mine from the start. I think there is a place for them, but I do wish they would be as hard hitting as the Paul Jenkins series in Civil War, because at least there, Spider-Man, Urich and Floyd dug up all sort of corruption in the SHRA. This should have been followed up in the subsequent series, but instead they became travelogues.
