There are four generations of DC superheroes who have close ties within their own generation. In which generation do the friendships run strongest?

THIS IS TOUGH!
I'd remove gen 1 because they're old.
Original JLA - I feel that this league could easily betray/turn their back on each other. They are valued colleague but not necessarily the best of friends. Batty created OMAC. Supes loves giving lectures. HalJ is a pric. BA has issues.
Iz a toss-up between Titans and YJ. On one level, Dickie and Wally and Roy have been BFFs since forever but...Conner, Tim and Cassie just look so cute together. Sigh.
Are we pretending that what's effectively the JLI generation doesn't exist, or are we tossing them into the JLA generation?

"They're old" ! That's why their friendship doesn't count ? Wow. Care to explain to the rest of the class what exactly that means

I'd probably say any except the JLA. The JLA, to me, really comes off as more of "work friends" group. They hang out in the lunchroom, but they wouldn't spend their Saturday nights together.

Definitely the Titans generation, they've grown up and fought with each other practically their whole lives.

On the one hand, I share your indignation about the "old" remark. Younger people used to respect old people, because of their hard-gained wisdom about life. Now younger people sneer at older people because they don't listen to the latest flavor-of-the-month bands or use the latest technology that will be obsolete in two years.
On the other hand, the JSA guys do have an unfair advantage here. They've been around since the beginning, but got minimal (and mostly respectful) exposure until the launch of the previous JSA series. So they haven't had as much turbulence as the younger characters: the rivalries, the love triangles, the misunderstandings, the deaths, the resurrections, and the serious lapses in behavior (OMAC, Parallax, etc.). Or they have, but it wasn't documented in comics.
Still, with the exception of Hawkman, who is a special and very complicated case, I would say the JSA guys do share the closest friendships. They have known each other for so long, and many of them have public identities now, so they are very open and honest with each other. Even such very different characters as Alan Scott and Ted Grant rarely disagree about anything important.

JLI personnel are of the same age-group (mostly) as the JLA generation. They associate with the Justice League, not the Titans. JLI is not an entirely separate generation on its own.

It's either Generation I or Generation IV.
Generation I has been at this a long time and they've become very close over the years.
Generation II are mostly work friends. And a lot of them don't like each other (Hal doesn't like Bruce, Barry doesn't like Ollie).
Generation III has some potential but DC did that horrible retcon awhile back about how they hate each other. All this "Rise of Arsenal" stuff is putting a serious strain on them.
Generation IV really only has each other at this point and they seem to be getting along.
Can't really pick between them right now.

In one of the recent titan issues they retconned the sort of family relationship the titans had to we all hate roy relationship so that generation is sorta out though Wally and Dick have remained close all things considered

Also, there was this nasty dust-up. Neither one of them was mind-controlled or anything like that, it was just a nasty argument that turned physical:

for me I went with the YJ generation but really it is a toss up between the titans and them, probably should have gone with the titans lol as they grew to be friends and reveal identities and share real lives. The YJ lot are nearly there as there aren't many secrets left between them all

well most of them are dead only three (four if you count hawkman) are still around. Just on number of close friendships they don't match up.

The JSA of course! They've been together for decades, fought in wars and dimensions together. They're together teaching the new generations of heroes. They know each other outside their costumes, they socialise, they knew each other inside out.

VERY tough question, but ultimately I gave it to the Young Justice kids. There's just something about them, you can feel their friendship glow off the page.
They'll be one hell of a Justice League one day.

I voted Young Justice on one side I think that they are the closet friends on the other side I like them the most.

those times where in the current JSA, the old guard would just talk about how much they've went through already, or those times where they would suddenly "pull rank" together and not individualy. yeah that gives you that special feeling that these guys are really close.
but titans however.. having followed them since the original new teen titans era, until the pre-graduation day titans era, you could say their closeness is unshakeable as well. cant speak for it now though..
It depends on who is writing.
Which is a cop out answer, I know. :)

wait, what?
There was a pretty terrible Titans story recently that basically said all the Titans hated eachother growing up. I heard that it was Roy's dream, which makes sense.

johnny thunder is "alive" though one with the thunderbolt
the original hourman is also alive again though retired from crimefighting
and then there's the question of whether hypolyta is actually part of JSA's history.. i think she's still alive
ma hunkel, the original red tornado is also still alive and with the team.
if you could count hawkman, then count hawkgirl as well.
and finally the current sandman is sandy the golden boy

I'd have to give it to the YJ. They always seem to stick together. Right now, it seems the Titans are out doing their own things. It continues to be my biggest complaint about the book. The family orientated theme of the group seems to be all but gone. YJ seems to maintain that aspect to this day. Yes you have Superboy in his own book, and Bart often appears in Flash. But whenever when they are together, you can literally feel the closeness between them, something you just don't get with the Titans anymore.
JLA shouldn't even be added to their list. They are co-workers at heart, at the absolute closest Associates.
JSA is closer than the JLA but doesn't compare to the younger generations.

I think I gotta go with the titans. They were always consoling each other, crying on each other's shoulders, waking up in bed, and making out randomly.
Well, there was more to it than that, but if by close you mean super hero soap opera, probably them.
