View Full Version : What power-specific group will Bastion target next?

He's been taking out the teleporters left and right, so what group of mutants with similar powersets will Bastion target next? Whom makes the most sense to eliminate strategically?
I'd guess the telepaths: Long-range communication and team coordination are highly important when fighting a battle.

He will target every group except the clawed people, not thinking they're a threat.
But as X-Force has proved, he'll be wrong.

Those who make coffee.
Watch out, Dr. Kavita Rao and Prodigy...

I can agree with telepaths. But I'm also going to go with flyers too. Or speedsters. Any type of transportive mutants.

Giggity.

Hope needs to restore his powers, so he can absorb the knowledge of how to do it from Pixie.

That would be my guess too. Maybe telekinetics next. Although psylocke and hellion are the only telekinetics in the group at the moment. The mutants with invulnerability like colossus. Lol, i was going to say rogue but then i remembered she just has the absorbing abilities now. Although rogue could cause a lot of trouble. She can absorb multiple abilities at once. Makes her a threat to bastion and possibly one of his next targets.

Maybe not. Solicts say he's putting a whole big sphere over Utopia to lock folks in. That might limit their effectiveness.
But telepaths? You take out the telepaths, as Bishop demonstrated in Messiah CompleX, communications are effectively down. And that's always a solid military strategy.

Or perhaps Bastion will assess that those with stabby-stabby powers seem to be the X-Men's best assets lately?

Flyers is pretty broad, but I agree with that. After telepaths and healers/transmutative properties flyers are highly important.

Well it used to be Onyxx's job. Scott had him put on yellow gloves and lemon pledge the shit out of everything just to keep him out of the way, with pieces of Marzipan as a reward for a job well done.
I think it's a deleted scene from Secret Invasion: X-Men.

Whoever said healers... yeah. Elixir.
He was one of the characters that Nimrod had told the Purifiers to take out, along with Wallflower, with future knowledge. Well, Nimrod's remains were mixed with Bastion's head in X-Force (vol. 3) #1... so... anything he deemed a priority, so should Bastion.
Makes sense. It's a lot easier to overwhelm the X-Men once they stop getting up.

Flyers. What a terrible power. If you don't have wings, you shouldn't be flying.

I never quite understood what made Wallflower such a high priority on the robot hit-list . . . But yeah, Elixir should WTFO.

Wallflower could calm any human who lifted a finger towards mutants. Over time, she could have really expanded her range, in theory, and made it impossible for anything that wasn't a Sentinel to engage the X-Men on foot.
Plus, she could use her power to remove fear, and/or increase mutant adrenaline, in theory, increasing their battlefield performance.
I might not be a hardcore Laurie fan... but pheromone control at the highest levels is a pretty f'n badass power if written well.

Well kitty is out of commission at the moment. With her current problems shes only a liability to the team. Shapeshifters...only one that comes to mind is mystique and i doubt she would get involved in this war, what with her being osborns puppet and everything.

The telepaths aren't down for the count yet. None of them will be easy to take down, especially emma and psylocke who have other powers to defend themselves from bastion and his minions.

Too easy--Bastion seems like he's enjoying this takedown too much to just go the direct route right away. Besides, he's using strategery. After teleporters, healers, and telepaths are removed I can see him attacking Utopia balls out directly because it'd be harder for the X-Men to recover given those losses.

Probability manipulators, knowing they're too unpredictable to be allowed to live. Domino and the Scarlet Witch will be vaporized from space. Longshot will decide to take a midnight stroll, so will be absent when a giant laser beam annihilates X-Factor headquarters. After accidentally stumbling on Bastion's headquarters, he'll be drawn to one particular rivet for reasons unknown. Pulling it out, a structural flaw will cause the entire building to collapse, crushing Bastion and all of his minions. Crossover done.
Really. I've read the advance copy and everything.

Someone said phasers. After telepaths, they are the most deadly to him. In the right context, Loa alone could deal a lot more damage to the sentinals than someone like Wolverine or any of the bruisers.

This is weirdly true.
I suppose then the question becomes who is the biggest threat when it comes to tossing people? The only way Loa is effective enough to be important is when someone throws her.
Colossus, Warpath, Rockslide, and Psylocke are thus prime targets.

Yep. The ones who can deal the most damage with their powers. Examples are Colossus, Rogue and Psylocke, who can also be included as telekinesis can be considered as a heavy hitting power. A lot of heavy hitters like Colossus and Rogue will commonly have super strength and invulnerability though. Rogue of course has to absorb powers now to be a heavy hitter. But the fact that she can absorb multiple powers at once can also make her a heavy hitter. Confusing, lol.

She doesn't need to be thrown. She could just run on the ground, phase through their legs and just watch them fall. If she's lucky, they fall on each other.
Madison Jeffries would be good as well. Deconstruct them from afar and all the others need to do is find a buyer for scrap metal.
