So, not a lot of info, and no surprises, obviously. I'd say the only thing that I'm somewhat disappointed about is that they couldn't have a Cassaday cover like Superman #701, or at least a variant. Though, I really like the Kramer cover. It just would have been cool to see, is all.

That's one tough looking Wonder Woman. Bulked up in the arms. I like.

I was kind of hoping that the solicitation would give a bit more information to go on, but I guess we'll have to wait for the ones for #2, 3, etc. for that.

I think it's because of #600. They don't want to give away whatever happens in #600.

Diana must face the biggest mystery of all – who destroyed Paradise Island?
This one's easy to answer: Maxwell Lord.

I think Max is going to be wrapped up in Brightest Day and especially JLA: Generation Lost. All signs point to it.
Not to mention, how would he even go about something like that?
Anyhow, I don't think he was really brought back as WW villain, as much as a cog in BD, and JLA:GL.

No surprises there.
We'll have to wait for 600 to see what happens.

I know you're just kidding.
But I believe it will be years before we see Genocide again (if ever).

I am not a fan of the art. Perhaps I was spoiled with Terry Dodson and Aaron Lopresti, but this Wonder Woman is not beautiful like I'd expect Wonder Woman to be. I like Wonder Woman to look imposing and tough, but not at the expense of her beauty and femininity.
I will reserve my full judgment for the actual issues, but thus far, not impressed.
Still, it is better than Gary Frank's back-up story from Wonder Woman volume three's annual. THAT was easily the worst representation of Wonder Woman I have ever seen.

Maybe it's the Amazons themselves that have smashed the island? I just wonder with everything they've been through and sacrificed, and to have lived in the world and had lives for a year, could they have decided that paradise wasn't everything it's cracked up to be?

Interesting idea there - could be good; could be a disaster.

I Love Dodsons Wonder Woman. Heck it is my favorite figure of Wonder Woman of all time.
I never ever liked the steroid looking Wonder Woman
I also love Chris Batista's art as well Followed by Nicola Scott

To be fair, that cover has her fairly deep in the background, so you can only see her fit for fighting body.

Well, you can certainly understand why Gail was annoyed. She spent all that time bringing the Amazons back and getting Themyscira back together and now it's trashed again. :frown: Y'ever get the feeling writing a DC comic with DiDio as EIC is sorta like making dinner with your three year kid toddler trying to "help"?
As long as we're panicking, lemme thrown my scenario in: I suspect Max Lord somehow altered time in such a way that everything since his death no longer happened.
But again, we DON'T KNOW WHAT THE ACTUAL STORY WILL BE, so let's try to cling to some feeble hope this'll all work out for a few more months, at least.

The irony is (if rumors are true) that that is exactly why JMS bailed on Thor. He spent all that time building up Asgard again only to have it trashed in Siege.

Let's not get into that. Gail likely won't be able to comment on it, and speculation doesn't do much good.
(Not saying you were speculating, but a few weeks ago there were a number of people spouting "I can't believe editorial fired Gail just to bring in a new writer!")

That's why I said I'd wait to see the real interior art. It could easily impress me, and I'm hoping that's the case.

I'd take that bet (and probably win).
There's been zero indication that Max and Wondy are going to have anything to do with each other. His encounter in Darkest Night was with Guy for a REASON. A JLI reason.
Add onto that the fact that JMS quite notably is anti "tie-in". And anything with Max would by definition be a Brightest Day tie in. JMS is going to be maintaining his own "space" in this title, the exact same way he did in Thor, I think (and really, in a way, even with Amazing Spider-Man when he had it--even with Tony Stark guest starring).
For that matter, I think almost anything created by Gail will be only loosely referenced--if at all. Heck, probably most of the stuff all the way back to Perez will be like that. Again, it will be him carving out his own space--the character will be his own amalgam of silver age concepts, loose pieces from the Perez reboot, and some new things (which, like Paradise Island may actually be retreads, but probably not knowingly on his part, since I bet he's only recently started to read his WW back catalog).
