This has been rumored for a long time, but today at the Cup o' Joe panel at C2E2 it's finally been confirmed!
"Allan Heinberg appeared on video to announce "Avengers: The Children's Crusade" the follow up to "Young Avengers" by the entire original creative team including artist Jimmy Cheung. The bi-monthly, nine-issue limited series has seen six issues written already, and Heinberg promised that a cataclysmic event involving Wiccan forces him to find the Scarlet Witch and try to redeem her. He will find her, and the series will not only include the full cast of the Young Avengers as well as all the other Avengers teams from the A-Vengers to the New Avenges but members of the mutant community. The story will build on plot threads from 'House of M' on through today, and the writer was excited to present new, unseen interactions between characters."

Anybody else as jazzed for this as I am?

I can't wait. We have waited far too long for the return of the YA!

Very happy about this. Especially that it's Heinburg and Cheung. Should be great
Edit: Who's the blond between Ironman and Hulkling?

Hell yeah! And with the "few mutant characters" remark I'm hoping to see the YA interact with some of the kids from the New X-Men! Or at least the X-Men themselves.

I just hope that Scarlet Witch is an active hero by the end of this. Like Speedball when he was Penance, I just want a lot of this "character development" gone.

AMAZING! One of the biggest stories that Marvel has left to tell (the reaction to finding the Scarlet Witch) is taking place with the Young Avengers front, left and centre? AMAZING! And Wiccan is one of the big, big stars?
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! SO EXCITED!!!!

Well, it was confirmed a long time ago when they announced the title and that it was coming.
But it's good to hear some actual news. 9 issues Bi-Monthly though. Egad. 1 1/2 years to wrap this up.
Hopefully it will be worth the wait (though I have faith that it will be).
I think marvel really waited a long time for Heinberg to return to this project... and I respect them for that since they could have just passed the YA franchise onto someone else. But they largely put in on hold to allow the original team to return to really tackle it. Hopefully they'll deliver.
I'm excited about it. I loved the first series, so my expectations are high.

That's Cassie. The person who you thought was Cassie is Ms. Marvel.
I was confused by that too at first.
Which Cap is that? (Steve should be through with the costume at this point, but if this is a continuation of Heinberg's series, not to mention revolving around Wanda, it might be him)

So, who do you feel should be part of the quest? What I mean is, who do you feel SHOULD be in this comic, who truly is a big part of Wanda's life? (i.e. who do you hope makes the cut?)
For me:
- Wiccan and Speed (duh!)
- Cassie (since Wanda killed her dad)
- Vision (to add to the whole confusion/issues of her husband whom she killed)
- Quicksilver
- Magneto
- Clint
- Beast
- Cyclops and Emma (they had to deal with the fall-out of "no more mutants")
- Decibel (Wanda basically left him a vegetable)
I'm not sure who would could as Wanda's "best friend"? Carol? Jessica? (who has lots of Young Avengers linkage) Wonderman? Steve Rogers?

Even longer if it's delayed for any reasons. And given Marvel's track record... yeah.

Somebody slap me! Is this for real? This is really great news! The entire original creative team, Young Avengers, old Avengers, Scarlet Witch, mutants, clowns and ice cream! This will be the best of all of Marvel's events in the past seven years!

The bi-monthly must be for one of two reasons:
1. to give Heinberg time to write it, if his schedule is still incredibly busy
or
2. maybe Marvel needs time to have "other things" take place before this concludes. I mean, unless the "no more mutants" have been undone by Hope, I can't see how they can actually do anything with the Scarlet Witch, unless she undoes it herself (which seems unlikely). So maybe it's bi-monthly to give another story time to conclude?

Heinberg said he planned to have the final script in by July, I believe.
The main reason for the schedule is Jim Cheung. He can't do more than five/six issues a year.

He's supposedly already finished with Issue 6 though.
So honestly, thre's no real reason it can't be monthly now. Or something.
But then they announced the new Astonishing X-Men: Xenogenesis was bi-monthly and so far it's not.

FINALLY.
This is the Avengers news I've been waiting for. Confirmation that this project is actually about to happen.
Waiting on a bi-monthly schedule is going to be murder, but it's much better than the small trickling of Young Avengers we've been getting for a few years. It's a year and a half of steady, though slow, Young Avengers. Quality Young Avengers, even.

Amen. Without a massive retcon, though, I don't see how it's possible. Why would the Avengers (or any other heroes) ever want to team up with someone who snaps and starts murdering people in cold blood because someone mentioned something she knows, and why would she ever want to team up with people who wanted to murder her in cold blood or were willing to associate with people who wanted to do that?

We may see the reason she snapped. A reason far more credible than in Dissasembled which seemed haphazardly thrown together, more a spring board to House of M than an actual story.

Easy enough. Connect Sublime to That Which Endures. The connection is already there, just not on panel.
After all, TWE caused Wanda to go bonkers last time. Also took over She-Hulk last time in WCA.
And took out The Vision this time, who was something of a threat to That Which Endures last time.
Outside of Emma Frost, Wolverine, and a couple others... it's not like they jumped at deciding to kill her.

There was a time when bi-monthly was common. A way to keep a title going when it was near cancelation. Bi-monthly is no big deal.

He couldn't be (if by "he" you mean Cheung). Heinberg Tweeted about handing in the script for #5 a couple of days ago. (http://twitter.com/allanheinberg/status/12077716700)).

Yeah, the explanation was only okay. I took it as "her powers are too unpredictable, thus they corrupted her and she grew out of control."
Perhaps they could throw together some sort of explanation like she had to keep reworking reality because every time she altered it, something went wonky and she just had to keep altering it over and over again to fix the very first act of doing so? A vicious cycle sort of thing.

I really, really wanted GM to link up the two given his admiration for continuity absurdities. It could still be done!
