I just finished reading it. While the reveal at the end was sort of satisfying, overall, it was pretty average. What do you all think about it?

I loved it. It was a very entertaining story to say the least. How they're writing it in Tony's past is really cool. It's kind of like Batman Confidential and of course they villian at the end is letting you know what's coming. I'm with this book for the long hall. ALL HAIL TONY STARK!

It was okay. Not too thrilled with the "Tony fights against his own technology again" arc but I'll stick around to see the direction the book goes in.

So who's the villain? Titanium Man? Gremlin?

20 new pages for $3.99?
I am not onw of those people that complains about every 3.99 book, but this one was pretty light for the price point. I don't need another reprint of his origin, thanks.

Gave it a solid page through before leaving it on the shelf and not just for the price...or the reprint...or the rehash of Tonytech in the wrong hands. No it was the 'blood on my hands' movieization of Iron man that left me cold. I imagine that's the market for this viewer friendly fusion of comic and film like a low fat, dietary fiber, vitamins, and antioxidants smoothie.

Yeah I did'nt agree with that either, but from here on out it's going to be $2.99.

read it and thought it was decent. The art was good and the writing was decent.
Really curious how it will keep going and stay fresh

Is this in continuity, or is it a story adaption for the movie market? I thouht it was a Heroic Age book.

From what I read Van Lente say it does take place in continiuty. That's why I compared it to Batman Confidential.

Is it set in the past, like someone mentioned, or does it move back into current time post-Siege?

Van Lente said it's set in the past.

It sounds like a stand alone story and has nothing to do with Doomwar, or anything Doom is doing post-Siege

^^^
It doesn't have absolutely anything to do with that, jackolover. It's set in continuity, but in the past, long before Civil War.

Really. It's like they only meet every 10 years or so. I know he appeared in MA but it wasn't a one on one thing.

Yeah, Spoilervillain is just a great adversary for Tony. They mirror each other in some obvious ways.
I did enjoy this, though I sort of predicted the last page reveal. (My fault for reading the solicits.) But there's no reason not to buy the rest of the arc, at least, seems like a fun Iron Man story.

Lol, Spoilervillain. Aptly named.

I agree, too. I'll at least read the War of Iron Men story... then see after that...

Just got around to last weeks pull list. Iron Man FTW. Legacy, Noir and Marvel Adventures. All over the time-line with those three reads.
As far as Legacy I'll go another issue or so. The shot of Doom at the end of the book was great.

Gotta love woefully uninformed reviewers . . .

It’s possible that this is technically the first “Heroic Age” title. It doesn’t mention Norman Osborn, Nick Fury is running SHIELD... but then, Stark isn’t wearing the new armor design we’ve seen promo images of either. Although new readers won’t care about this stuff, it’s possible that it’ll just confuse the hardcore readership, and worse than that, it might give the impression that the book isn’t in-continuity, which could virtually sweep its knees out from under it.
Of course, the "hardcore readership" realizes that it's an in-continuity book that takes in the past.

What was the point of this. Fred Van Lente is a great writer and his Marvel Zombies is proof of that, but why do this retrospective of a fight betwen Stark and DOOM? It has to be before Secret War, and maybe during the time of Alias, because Jessica Drew was still in detective work. That is such a long time ago that it becomes irrelevant, unless time machines get involved.
This story had a flavor of IIM #25, with Stark trying to introduce new power sources and protesters going against him. The retrospectives with young Tony remembering his father, and Jarvis giving him advice also fits with Matt Fractions recent retrospectives in Tony's dreams. Then Fury appears, and Jessica Drew Investigations, and the whole thing is thrown out of whack.
Here is the aim of the series by FVL - "We will be going backwards in time and seeing how Tony's past influences his present".
So are we supposed to fit this series amongst Fractions series to show influences that stem from FVL's series?

This is basicall an Iron Man forever type title where they can go back and tweak past stories and even slightly retcon a few stories to match up with current events.

I was a bit confused about Doom's involvment in this at first. It seems to me that around the time that Alias was being published, this was the early phase of the reboot after the Heroes Reborn, Onslaught, etc. Doom was the one character that stayed behind on Franklin's HR Planet and really doesn't return to Earth Prime until FF#25.
It also seems to be referencing the Kosovo conflict that occurs in the Clinton administration. We see references to Islamic Romani and the ethnic wars within Transia with Latveria right on the border. One of the civilian Romani is seen heading away from the troops saying she is going to the one person who cares about his people...Doom? But it's hard to say what side of the conflict he will end up on from what the upcoming solicits say.

No, no it's not. It's more like X-Men: First Class, Batman: Legends of the Dark Knight or Untold Tales of Spider-Man.

Well that would explain why, when DOOM was sent to Hell by Reed, that when the FF took over, Latveria was being attacked by it's neighbours. DOOM sending Iron Men out to attack neighbouring countries would be excuse enough to seek revenge on Latveria and steal DOOM's tech.

Has a thread been started for that? If not, what was so good about #2?
