Any plans on bringing Ted Kord back? Johns: "Sorry, he's not coming back. Not right now."

Robinson: "Can I just say that there are characters that I wish came back that didn't, but Ted Kord died a true hero's death," saying that bringing him back might diminish that.

Winick: "There will be a Blue Beetle (in Generation Lost). Jaime Reyes is going to be around a lot. OK, he's on the team! There, I said it."

Hmm, so all the people they brought back didn't "die a true hero's death"? I kind of find that hard to believe.
I find it easier to believe that the DC writers can figure out a decent way of using Ted Kord. Too bad they aren't willing to ask their fans, who could come up with plenty of cool uses right away.
Heck, team him up with Booster Gold, and you don't have to worry about him overshadowing Jaime because he'll be traveling through time for the most part.
Give him an Oracle type role, away from the Blue Beetle character.

That would be like bringing back Hal, but not as a GL.
It doesn't work and it won't stick (as we saw with Hal).

Fan notes Winick's history of writing homosexual characters, and essentially asks "who is gay in JLI?" Winick jokes "The better question is, who's not gay in the JLI?"
Heh.

Good to see that Winick has a sense of humor about all this.

Chance of David Finch drawing Lobo? Finch: "That would be awesome." Johns: "Who would he fight?" Finch: "Everybody."
Heh, this I want to see! :D

Good to see that Winick has a sense of humor about all this.
To be fair, he seems to have a good sense of humor regarding his reputation in general.

What's going on with Mogo's social life?" Johns: "He has a girlfriend. She's a moon." Fan: "Seriously?" Johns: "No, that's a joke."
Johns is funny

And it's true--back in the day the sexual tension between Beetle and Gold was so thick and hot you could cut it with a butter knife.
Johns is funny
But is it wrong that I kinda want to see Mogo have a planet for a girlfriend?

"It reminds me of the local discotheque on ladies' night," Robinson jokes.

That would be like bringing back Barbara Gordon, but not as Batgirl.
It doesn't work and it...
Oops, my bad. It worked perfectly and created a brand new and interesting character out of a traditional veteran character.
Morale of story: An old favorite character can be recycled into an interesting new character if the writers want to do it and spend some time to do it. If the writers don't want to put a second of work into the character, nothing can be done. When in doubt, hope Geoff Johns seeks pity on him during his next big event.
Like Barry Allen?
"died a hero's death" by what logic? Died a hero's death because he was ignored by all the other heroes and was beaten mercilessly and then shot in the head? Yeah, that's SO heroic right there!
It's about as heroic as Martian Manhunter's death, which was...not much.

Oops, my bad. Oops indeed on your part. Perhaps you should go back and read your old trade of the Killing Joke because Barbara Gordon certainly never died. But it seems stretching and distorting the facts to fit their opinions seems to fit the modus operandi of the 80s fans.
Next we know, you'll start denying that Ted died heroically or start berating the new BB and calling him a token. Oh wait silly me already happened.

Well, you know, even though Ted Kord accomplished absolutely nothing himself, his death did lead to others defeating Max Lord who was taken out permanently, right?

If that's heroic, call me a coward.
So Martian Manhunter and Aquaman didn't die true heroes deaths?
I guess that's the difference in an A-List hero and a D-List one
Yeah I have to agree, his death was anything but heroic.

His motivations and how he got there were heroic. The "Go to hell, Lord." was heroic and badass. I'd say he died in a heroic fashion. But...
1-At least WW killed Lord for the...oh wait, he's back. So, what did Ted die for then?
2-Heroic death? You mean like...
-Barry Allen, who ran around The Anti-Monitor's cannon, destroying it and himself, but saving everything? He's back.
-Hal Jordan, who committed atrocities towards the end, but then it turns out it wasn't really him in control, but he ignited himself in the sun to save everything anyway? He's back.
-Martian Manhunter, who...okay, not as heroic, but at least he told Libra he would fall by the end of Final Crisis. Which was badass. He's back.
-Firestorm, who died after fighting against Shadow Thief and was impaled with his teammates sword? He's back.
-Superman, who died fighting Doomsday? He came back.
-Batman, who shot Darkseid and saved, literally, everything? He's on his way.
-The list goes on.
C'mon DC...don't BS us...

Robinson was probably speaking only for himself, not all of DC. Geoff Johns, whom I'm guessing was seated just a few feet from him, might have disagreed with that reasoning, but probably wasn't going to say anything at the panel even if he did.

That's probably true, but I think Robinson's logic is still flawed.

Limitations on resurrections only count when it's a character the writer doesn't like.
