Actually it is in full-color, that B/W was a mistake. It is 12 pages of story and some behind the scenes stuff.

Well, considering the tallent involved and the price of the preview, I'll at least try it. Besides this book looks quite interesting, although the real reason I'm going to try it is because of Mark Waid. It's going to be interesting to see if I enjoy this as much as his Fantastic Four.

I saw this solicitated for this Wednesday with Issue 0 and I am really hyped. Anyone else feeling especially pumped up for this series.
I really hope it does well because it sounds like an awesome concept and the art and writer are killer (hehehe)
Anyway... tell me what you think.

So I read issue 0 and it was pretty darn good.
I am really excited to see where this story goes. It could really become a good series. The art was amazing, and personally I thought the characters were really well fleshed out. Good stuff.
And only 25 Cents

I didn't care at all...
but I picked up the free issue of Witchblade and really enjoyed it.
Saw the #0 with a $0.25 price tag...
the other day I was saying how I don't like Marvel restarting all their series with #1 and that I think a much better "gimmick" would be to put out another $0.25 issue. So I had to support the idea and pick this up.
I was certainly entertained, and I think I'll pick up the #1, at least.
Waid's letter at the end, however, was definitely not as good as the Marz letter at the end of Witchblade... he actually seemed kind of ho-hum about it...

I agree. I thought the book was fun but coould have done without the editorial at the end.

I felt a little deflated, and damned for reading this. I sent it on the next person in my chain mail group.

I might have given it a look if the art were better. I know I'm probably the only one with this opinion, but I do NOT like Silvestri's current work. I think his work over the years has degraded instead of getting better. Just my 2 cents.

Well, I will give this a shot, and see just what it was like. The preview was nice, but hardly blew my socks off. More like gently breezed at my shoes.
But Waid is a good writer, and I'm trying all kinds of different comics these days, so I'll be seeing how it turns out.

I am not a Silvestri fan (I already think he really put a damper on Grant Morrison's last storyline on New X-Men), at least as his art is currently constituted.
However, it does not, like, ruin a story for me.
As to what we have seen so far, it's been a standard comic book tale so far. Nothing bad, but nothing we haven't seen so far. And I must admit, the fact that it is so... typical really surprised me.
I mean, reading Waid's editorials on the book....all I can think is, "Huh?"
Or better yet, "Really? You really think that?"
Like the whole "Can you believe it?!?! The PARENTS were bad!"...I could not tell for sure...was that a joke? Or was it serious that we were supposed to be astonished that the parents were bad guys?
And the whole political thing...it is like getting a geo-political statement in the middle of an episode of GI Joe. As in, is this really the type of material you want to make a geo-political statement with? Like Duke and Shipwreck debating the work of Chomsky.
So while I think the book has been fine, the surrounding material is weeeeird.

Yep, your thread duplicated a previous one, so I merged them. That way we don't have threads on the same topic pushing other threads further down the list and it helps to concentrate the discussion. Please feel free to participate in the Giant-Size Hunter-Killer thread. :)

I saw this when issue #1 came out and considered picking it up more than once. Now I just got #3 & #4 cause they just kept looking good. Glad I did.
While some typical super-soldier style stuff, there is enough mix of elements that it feels fresh. #3 was a bit confusig, since it was midstream of a story, but #4 was more contained. Nice artwork, very striking--similar to the appeal of Aspen's Fathom and Cannon Hawke artwork.
The art thing isn't surprising considering that Turner started his career as an artist at Top Cow under Silvestri's tutelage.
And Hunter-Killer is a really good read. Definitely one of my favorite comics right now. :)
