Well, considering that there are about to be 3-1/2 GL books, if one considers Brightest Day 1/2 a GL book, I can't see how you can really argue that there shouldn't be.

But I do see what you're saying. :)

I guess they can still include the various super-hero teams and they still have...Flash?

Is it hard to get a forum for dedicated to a character? I don't know why they don't all send PM's asking for a GL forum.

Well let them have their board .

But no reason they have to whine about WW posters are hateful cause they don't like their choice of ship etc or that WW doesn't deserve a board.

Even on the DC MB the WW forum was very active.

I think that every comic book Hero SHOULD have his/her own forum. But that's just me

So, you seriously think that there should be like 800 different forums here? Really?!

Crimson Fox should have her own forum? Each of the Great Ten? Etc?

nightforce

There are 800 Heroes of the DCU with their own title? Or just a few with like 5 titles?

I thought that it should have been self explanatory.

But let me do this again But better,
A Hero with a SOLO book that comes out monthly should get his or her own Forum and of course the team books as well.

With that said let me add, that it seems, and I could be wrong here, that It depends if the traffic of the message boards warrant a Hero's own forum? Gail has mentioned a few times how the traffic on the Wonder Woman Board was kind off busy?

I do not know how that works

Either way I go back to what I originally think should happen

I have high hopes for the movie. If it does really well we can probably get other DC Heroes with their own movie.

And yes they should get their own forum,

How can we get a petition going?

That brings it down to like, what?

Superman
Batman
Wonder Woman
Supergirl
Power Girl
Robin
Batgirl
Green Lantern
Birds of Prey
Flash
Batwoman
Sirens
Web
Shield
Great Ten
Zatanna
Green Arrow
JSA
JSA All-Stars
JLA
Titans
Teen Titans
Legion
Doc Savage
Doom Patrol
Azrael
Outsiders
The Spirit
Magog
Human Target
Jonah Hex
Secret Six
REBELS
Warlord

And that's off the top of my head. That's what? Almost 35 different forums for DC alone? Then add in Marvel?

So, there are supposed to be somewhere near 80 different forums?

That's ... insane. Especially considering you're going to not only have to find people to moderate those 80 forums, but the vast majority of them are going to essentially empty.

It's wasteful.

I think it's more of an issue, as far as I'm concerned anyways, of Green Lantern being the second biggest franchise at DC right now, behind Batman.

I'd say Superman's slid down to third, lately. However, I think Supes will be right up there once he's back in Action and Superman.

Wulfmir
02-23-2010, 10:45 PM
Believe it or not, I don't actually favor a Green Lantern board. For one, there isn't that much controversy with Green Lantern, the franchise is solid. There isn't that much "issues" to be talked about. Previews, speculations and discussion can be handled inside DCU forum. Second, let it stay there doing what it has been doing these past years, carrying the DC universe.

Yeah that was nice to see and at least he knows about WW cause he read her unlike some of those folks who clearly haven't. I get they want a board and why shouldn't they? But to say they deserved it more? GL only started to sell well under Johns and even on the DC message boards his forum is not a beehive of activity.

But that's not the point really. They could have graciously petitioned for a board without having to sound petty about it to Wonder Woman and her fans.

Nice respect for the dedicated people who post there. James.

Nobody is arguing is that Green lantern is BETTER known than wonder woman.

You could say that the Wonder woman in the TV SHOW and the One in the comics have little in common. Maybe they have the same symbol and the same colour hair but they are virtually different things and people like the two for different reasons.

I really can't wait for the Green lantern Movie. look at the remarkable success of the IRONMAN Movie.

Ask anyone on the street who Ironman is now and they will tell you who he is.

This is one thing I do kinda hate here but also in general.

Why does love for one character somehow take away from another?

One guy complained there about people being angry about the Batman/WW pairing, and seemed to assume that that meant we all hate Batman. I don't hate Batman, I love Batman. But the two of them together is completely and wildly wrong for both characters, in my opinion.

Why does an extremely busy and successful WW board take away from GL? I LOVE GL. Creating this board was not easy. It took a lot of work and thought and a lot of effort from a lot of people. If a GL board is what you want, it shouldn't be that big a deal...the books are among DC's biggest sellers and more are coming. Make a plan, get some content, some reason for readers to come here to a GL board, and present it to Jonah. Having a successful WW board doesn't do a thing to prevent a GL board. If anything, it proves it can be done to have a character-specific forum that works.

That's my thinking. But I see this all the time--people think a Wonder Woman movie prevents a Teen Titans movie, or they think a Green Lantern film presents a Wonder Woman film, or whatever...it's just not so. One character's success in some way doesn't present another character's success.

That was me, but I think there's a fair bit of contempt for Batman from some people here from the comments they post. Since Batman is the top franchise right now, that may be a reason. But you can't say that there isn't contempt, there is people saying negative stuff about the character which shows that they have a one-sided understanding of the character. I know there are some people here that like him but don't want them to be together, and they're fair when they voice their opinions. But when people dismiss Bruce as some sort of heartless person and/or play up the paranoid criticisms, then it gets out of hand.

The OP probably compared the large interest in both franchises. He probably said "Why does this character have it's own board when this character continually outsells the former?" That's why WW was singled out.

Yeah, but...

...well, that sort of thing isn't personal. We see the MOST OBNOXIOUS posts about Wonder Woman from people who don't like her, all the time, INCLUDING on that very GL thread.

Does that make all those people 'vicious?'

A hardcore WW fan is probably a different person from a hardcore Batman fan. But a lot love both, they just don't want them together.
