I just got the first issue in this series. It looked kind of interesting. Actually, the first issue is a bit confusing but eventually we learn that a young girl discovers she has the ability to talk to animals. (or they talk to her rather) After a weird run-in with some creepy guy, she ends up face to face with a proud looking German Shepard who guffly tells her "we need to talk". The first issue just left me confused mostly because it was a little all over the place, but I'm a sucker for animals being able to talk in stories, so I'll continue to get the series just to find out what happens.

It is a bit confusing. She ran away from home.. She didn't seem to have control of her powers. So it must have been kind of scary. "Not again.. this can't be" Yikes. I hope she is talking about passing out and not the dropping the baby scene ! :(

Did you spot the dog in the alley, when she is running in the rain?

Yeah, animals talk to her.. And they also know her name before she tells them! :p

So she did run away from home? (I was still confused about that part) I have to admit, this first issue was very confusing. The story kind of bounced all over the place. I had a hard time keeping track of what was going on with her. I think some of the story was even flashbacks she was having to previous events. But honestly, I'm not really sure. And then the run-in with "creepy guy" who seemed to already know her but she had no idea who he was.

I do hope they explain a few things in the next issue. I have a feeling this could turn into a good little story if can pull it together a little better.

I think the book would have been better served by a double sized first issue.
The story will hopefully pick up by the next issue.
I will pick up the next issue but I am not sure where the book is going yet.....

I kind of liked that I'm not sure what's going on. I like to read stuff that leaves you wondering and doesn't spoon feed you everything. I love Shawn McManus ever since his Dr.Fate and I'm in for the duration.

Issue 2 finally came out. What a difference. MUCH better. A big improvement over the first issue. Issue two finally made more sense and it was actually kind of sweet watching this wise German Shepard talking to our girl. The story is finally starting to take a little more shape. Her furry companion is finding others to help them because the man that was after her in the first issue apparently is bad news and they need to find help to deal with him. I just like the way issue 2 unfolded. I'm really getting into it now. I look forward to the next issue.

Anyone still reading this one? Issue three came out. Wildgirl and the German Shepard meet a flock ofbirds. Their leader wants wildgirl to take a challenge to prove her worth. She has to climb a very tall brick tower. A raven (or crow?) keeps her company as she climbs and tells her a bit about their past. When the animals were on the ark and the doves were sent to look for land, a pair of crows went with them.

She gets to the top of the tower and the bird who is the leader of the flock tells her she has met the challenge and she is their "majesty" and when is she going to kill "him"?

Then we see the creepy guy in the first issue is suddenly at the door of wildgirl's sister/aunt/mom (I can't remember) apartment. Wildgirl ran away in the first issue and her sister/aunt/mom wonders where she is.

A good issue. It's keeping me hooked.

i was thinking about getting into this, but it seems like a lot to jump into. anyone know if a trade is planned?

A trade? Probably not, considering how low this book is selling. You'd be better off tracking down the issues themselves.

Just got issue 4. Wildgirl meets a swarm of butterflies who tell her this is her destiny and she is their queen. She finds out that the man who was chasing her in the beginning of the series has taken her baby (brother/sister?). She has been told by the birds that she will have to kill him. Why she can hear animals and why this guy has taken her sibling is still unclear. But with only two books left in this series, I hope they can wrap it up a bit better. I'm still enjoying it. Good artwork and I just love that damn dog. Talking dogs are so darn cute.

Just picked up issue 5. There are only 6 issues in this series so the next one is the conclusion. It's a nice story but not a whole heck of a lot has happened in these five issues. Wildgirl, finds she can talk to animals and she meets these birds that tell her of a prophecy and of the man she has to kill who has kidnapped her baby brother. He now has her sibling since he knocked around her mom to steal him. And in the comic it only feels like Wildgirl has gone missing from her home for a couple of weeks or so but then we find out it's been two or three months???? So basically, the last issue is going to have to wrap this all up. Kind of poorly layed out. Oh well. I'm still digging it. Wildgirl meets an alligator in the sewers since she's going to find the man who stole her baby brother. She ends up killing the alligator and we get a little backstory on his history.

It´s an okay series, nothing that really excites me, but a nice, quick read nonetheless.

What makes me wonder is how Shawn McManus´s art has changed since I last saw it (earyl Supreme, some Namor stuff).

What the hell??? The last issue sucked. Who was the bad guy who took her baby sibling? The ony she finally fought at the end? They never explained who the hell he was or why he was after her and why he kidnapped her baby sibling?

Overall, it was a fairly weak comic. From what I could gather, Rosa (right?) was the new top... "talks-to-animals-person" (?), with greater power than the dog-guy. He felt threatened by her and was trying to take her out or whatever.

I wanted to like Wild Girl, and I LOVED the art, but the whole thing just seemed half baked.
