I've just started watching Macleod's daughters and Home and Away, two soaps from Australia, and I'm sad to say I'm hooked.
I've also been addicted to a few German comedies I've seen over they years.
What shows from foreign countries are you fond of?

There's not much American telly i'm bothered about any more. I'll still watch The Simpsons for the odd laugh, but it's a very odd laugh these days. Sadly there's little on TV to realy get me bothered anymore, though I am quite looking forward to The Pacific.

There's lots of British TV shows I love...
As Time Goes By
Monty Python's Flying Circus
Doctor Who
Jeeves & Wooster
Spaced
Blackadder
The Avengers
The Young Ones
'Allo 'Allo
Fawlty Towers

And there are others that I probably will like if I ever get the chance to watch them. (Red Dwarf, Life on Mars, MI-5, The Office)

MI-5
Do you perhaps mean spooks? That's the only series I can think of about MI-5.
If you do watch it, just don't get attached to any of the cast...

Spooks is titled MI5 in the USA. Not sure why, to be honest.
I like Glee myself.

Over here, Spook is an oldschool derogatory term for black people. I guess that may be why they changed it.

I like an Irish show called Seacht.
It is actually made in Northern Ireland so it technically isn't foreign (it is a BBC /TG4 co-production) but it is in Irish, which I don't speak.
It is a soap like serial about music students in Belfast and has some really funny and crazy far fetched stories.

No one's heard of Mcleod's daughters? How shameful.
I would've at least thought the Aussies would know it.
The British version of Kitchen Nightmares.
definitely much better than the American ones.
I'd also add, the Japanese version of Iron Chef.

British
Primeval (YAY!)
Dr. Who
Misfits
Kitchen Nightmares (just saw it today on BBCA - love!)
Ab Fab
Vicar of Dibley
Secret Diary of a Call Girl
...many I'm forgetting offhand
I'm by nature a British TV fan. I like the short seasons and lack of crappy filler like American TV. Thad's been known to mock me for my British TV love. Actually, I got the expensive cable package for BCCA specifically.
Australian
Macleod's Daughters...but only with Claire (Clare?).
Farscape (hey, I count it as more Australian than American).

Over here, Spook is an oldschool derogatory term for black people. I guess that may be why they changed it.
Also, it's just kind of a slang term for spies or government agents that we don't use over here in the States. If you refer to a "government spook" in Britain, they'll know what you mean. If you say it here in the US, you'll probably get a quizzical look from someone. Mind you, "MI-5" really isn't much better, though.
The only foreign TV I'm hooked on, I don't even see on the TV. I watch it on my computer. You see, I'm a big mark for kids' super-hero tokusatsu from Japan. Super Sentai and Kamen Rider and stuff like that.

God, I hope not. I LOVE all three season, enough that I bought the DVDs while they were on sale. I love to hate Helen.
It'll be coming back for a 4th and 5th season next year since the funding came through with iTV (I think from BBC and...some Canadian station maybe). I was thrilled. God, I want a Rex of my own. My friend Jessi claimed Sid and Nancy...also that I dress like Claudia Brown, which yay.

I hope that never happens. Supposedly Torchwood will be Americanized, too.
Helen was so batcrazy, no pun intended, and it was so obvious how fevered she was about mid-s3. But the best thing about the character? They're all The Little Black Dress. You can pair them off in relationships, friendships, and rivalries and it works.

They will. Season 2 led pretty well into 3. It's been confirmed 4 will be in the future.

I didn't like Helen as the story progressed. In S1 she was perfect to me as a villain. She had info people needed. She never gave it up.
She turned to genocide later on. I supposed after she murdered her husband she needed a purpose.
I will say I loved the episode with the terror birds.

I like how she was really a counter to Nick, who was empathetic, while she was more "fix the problem now!" I do wonder how much she's messed up the future, though. I mean, the buggy critters created by the fan who was 16, was terrifying when mixed with BatBoy.
