What was the best x-men "vs" mini-series from 80s

Which of the 3 80s x-men "vs" limited series did you think was the best?

My take--

X-men vs Avengers--Not the best story but mindless fun. There are really three teams fighting but the title would be to long for all three i guess.

X-men vs Fantastic four--This one tied into the kitty pryde story in the x-men books at the time. It was really dark for a fantastic four story and the covers had someone dying on all 4 covers!

VS Mephisto--This one had the avengers, thor, x-factor and fantastic four in it as well as the x-men but i'll count it. The only thing i hated about it is you have to pick up the thor issue to finish the story.

So what did you guys think of these stories? Which one was the best?

I remember being disappointed by all of these, I think I probably enjoyed Vs the FF the most - but I haven't read them since the 80s. The Uncanny issue of the Mephisto series was good too, but I wasn't keen on the others.

I know this isn't a "vs", but this was my favourite X Men team up mini of the 80s:

Yeah,that was by far the best.....great story which had an impact on both titles......great Paul Smith art.......Claremont's handling of Alphs Flight was great.

No,not 'versus'....definitely worth checking out,though......BTW,from your list,the F.F. one is by far the best story.....The Avengers one seemed a bit flat......I just think the Avengers team wasn't great at that time.....It had a nice conclusion though where Magneto was served up an 'Outer Limits'/'Twilight Zone' type ending.

Mephisto sucked......Really,really bad art on that series.

Vs. the Fantastic Four was definitely the best. That was just a really great story, and it even impacted the main X-Men books, something that's rare these days. Vs. the Avengers wasn't bad, but seemed kind of unfocused, and the ending kind of falls flat. (Makes sense, since it was changed at the last minute.) The Mephisto mini really, really didn't do it for me.

From the list, I'd probably give it to vs. FF, but X-Men/Alpha Flight is much better than all 3 listed.

Fantastic Four followed by... Avengers...

Actually I am conflicted. See I had the lowest expectations for the Fantastic Four story line, so was pleasantly surprised. I had the highest expectations for the Avengers one, so am maybe harsher on it.

Same with Alpha Flight. Low expectations. Thought it was excellent.

i really like this crossover a lot too. From the poll i chose "Avengers vs X-men", even when all three weren't masterpieces of their time imo.

I always seem to be the only one who loved X-Men vs. the Avengers.

That was really good, especially the art (by Silvestri, I think I remember).
I was only sorry about the fact that Longshot and Psylocke were basically not featured, even if they were part of the X-team at that time.

X-Men vs Avengers, the first 2 issues wow, the art was so good. Yes, it was Marc Silvestri. His Web of Spider-Man issues, and his Cloak and Dagger were just as awesome.
