Every ten years or so Marvel needs a "Pet" girl character that can grow under the X-Men teachings. Arguably first was Jean. Then we had the not arguable Kitty. Followed by Jubilee. Then maybe X-23 or any number of the new X-Men cast. Now we have Pixie, and maybe Armor. It is just a repeated theme that a new cute girl char needs to be added every few years so some older X-male can be a father figure. Get over it.

Well, then it might perhaps be the mini that soon's coming out and everyone is forced to buy for some reason.

Might be a good idea if you want to push a character. It's probably only the hard-core fans (getting all or most titles) that would be annoyed anyway and they most likely won't quit the books due to such a minor issue.

The answer is always as simple as $$$. Despite the mixed opinions of this forum, the surest way for Marvel (or any publisher) to know what their fans like is to see what sells. Apparently she either sells well or Marvel feels she has the potential to. No shame in that. If you don't like her, don't buy books she's in.
Personally, I'm not a huge fan, but in all fairness that may have more to do with Fraction writing her than the character itself.
