Whats the deal with all the Koopa kids?

I wanted to know if all the koopalings are actually in continuity for all game systems, or just one. Ive noticed junior gets a lot of play and appearances when it comes to the mario games. what about the rest? also whats this about Koopa telling them that the princess is their mother. Anyway if anyone has info on this it would be appreciated. Im a Mario fan just wanted to know if there is any type of continuity with these games.

The Koopalings have appeared in games for three systems, NES, SNES and Wii.

As for continuity, there's sort of a continuity, but not really.

The Koopalings are Koopas kids and that's all that's known about them or will ever be known about them.

If you beat mario sunshine, bowser tells koopa jr that peach is not his mother and he made it up so his son will hate mario.

The other kids first came in mario 3. They are in the mario 3 cartoon also.

I love that Jr. and the Mario 3 kids are all in New Super Mario Bros. Wii. I also love that even though he seems to be in charge of things, he's one of the easiest of the kids to fight.
