The homecoming issue is X-Men 70. Jean and Scott leave in 71. They were supposed to come back a couple issues later and Seagle/Bachalo would have written the more classic team with Cyclops, Phoenix, Wolverine, Storm, Rogue and, Nightcrawler in Uncanny X-Men. Kelly/Pacheco would have had Beast, Marrow, Maggot, Cecilia Reyes, and some of the newer X-Men in their title. Sadly editorial got in the way.

I really wish they've could've continued. :frown:

Is that Jean or just a redhead who has a costume really similar to Jean's?

What is AOX Jean doing around? I'm not really following up on that story. Are the actual canonical characters experiencing what is going on in AOX or is it just another alternate reality?

No it really is Jean in her Marvel Girl suit. Marvel did a series of crossovers with Image in the late 90s. Jean was featured in all 3 out of the 4.

The Silver Age one had gorgeous art by Jim Lee and Jean in her Marvel Girl duds. The Modern Age had her as Phoenix, drawn fabulously by Adam Hughes. It was awesome. The Dark Age was set in the future, drawn by Brett Booth.

The theories are still out on what AOX really is.

I agree. I've openly stated that I believe Jean would pull up her roots from the X-Men at this point. I don't see her playing lapdog to any of their actions right now. She'd either make her own team (X-Factor's not associated with the X-Men right now either) or join another hero team (like Avengers).

Ick, is that like Ruby Summers?

She and Cap WOULD make a good couple.

Mmmm. HOT Can we get more of these images in?

When Jean comes back, she needs to start dating again...and I don't mean a serious, long-term relationship (unless she finds someone she really likes). There's plenty of men to go around. She was held back in the dating field with Cyclops, so she should start living as a single and just freely date whomever she wants. That would be fun. Heck, she and Wolvie can finally have at it with no guilt.

I definitely agree there. Cyclops was allowed to move on, so should Jean. It would be interesting to see the dynamic if they are on the same team, since they've sort of always been together.

I also wouldn't mind if Jean was single (no dating) for a while too.

I just can't see them together anymore. I feel they've grown past that. Scott/Emma make a fine pairing. And it wouldn't be good for Jean's character to go back to him after all that transpired.

I think Jean should be single for a while once she gets back. Like Scott, Jean's never really been single and I think it would be nice to see how she acts as a character.

I think they could be worked back together over the course of a few years. With the right story telling.

Would it be in-character for Scott and Jean to accidentally consummate in the heat of the moment (while he was still with Emma)? It would just be a one time thing, of course, with either one of them deciding it wasn't working out or was awkward. I could see something like that happening, maybe.

Jean should definitely be single. All I meant was just casually dating around for the free food and other stuff.

Well Scott has done it before. Jean has given into her passions too on occasion. They're human after all. Would they go all the way? Dunno. lol But it would be awkward indeed. haha

Free food and other stuff...is always a good reason to go out on dates. Jean should look outside the X-Men since between them all, it's all sloppy seconds and thirds by now. lol

Maybe over the course of several long years. It would have to be written really well though. I don't want Cyke to just drop Emma, and I don't want Jean to just go back to him. If it has to happen let it natural, let Emma/Scott grow apart on their own, let Jean play the field first for a while with others or be single and independent.

If I were writing it (Yeah like that's gonna happen), I would probably have Cyke and Jean on the same team to create tension but not so much of a "love triangle", eventually Emma would get over her jealousy. After a few years Scott and Emma have some big disagreement involving the X-Men/mutants. After a while they fall out of love. A few years later (while Scott gets some time to be single for once) Jean and Scott have some big long conversation and they end up back together. It would be like one of the Nicholas Sparks books

It would be ironic if Scott cheated on Emma over Jean. LOL. I'd love to see that written, though. The buildup would have to be really slow and when it does happen, it would just be a one time thing. Scott would still go back to being with Emma (and not telling her, of course) and Jean would go back to doing whatever.

It would be ironic, but it would be interesting to see Jean, initially at least, kind of wanting to give Emma a taste of her own medicine, but realizing her mistake. Mmhmm. Single wouldn't be bad. But I still like that Captain America pairing that came up in the last thread. Jean could go back to being a wholesome Good Girl and she and Cap could be America's Sweethearts! Jean could join the Avengers. It'd be WAY better than her returning to X-Men. The whole Scott/Jean thing I was talking about could totally happen, and it's not unrealistic for old couples to get back together for a one time thing like that.

I'd imagine Scott would want to continue, but Jean is the one who stops it because it's awkward and wouldn't feel right to her.

I'm not saying that Cyclops and Jean Grey should get back together the moment she returns, whenever that may be. However, you can't expect them to stay away from each other with all the history they've shared. They're the X-men's oldest and most iconic couple. They're one of the few Marvel pairings that have gotten married and made it work for a long period of time. That sort of thing can't be glossed over unless you One More Day it. And I don't think the X-books need that.

Once Jean comes back I'd prefer for them not to get back together instantly. Let Scott break up with Emma as he debates over who he loves more. Let him found out about Here Comes Tommorrow (not from Jean) and then finally realize that Jean was always in his heart.

Nah, he'd kick over Emma in a hot minute. Remember what happened with his wife and infant son the minute Jean came back that other time.

And as bad as Maddy Pryor became, consider that Emma was a villain to begin with. Who now knows all the X-Men's secrets.

Jean won't get back with Scott. Even before she was "killed", Scott had made his decision, and the two were well on their way to breaking up anyway. But other than that, although she still has connections to her human side, she is way beyond humanity. She has "Phoenix work" to do. (Then again, Phoenix loves to experience emotions, so who knows).

It's inevitable Jean and Scott will get back together, just like it's inevitable the X-Men will return to Westchester. It will probably take years but it will happen.
