I had no idea this was running. Cool.

No info, not even a hint, as to what this one page might contain?

I actually saw it... it was a nice page! If I think of it, I'll get the issue and scan it, Carol (unless someone beats me to it).

I really don't need a scan, just a word or two of what it might be about. Advertising the series? Playing up Wondie as a character? Mentioning her 600th issue? Noting her upcoming appearances out of her own title? Focusing on the magnificence of her "satin tights," as that TV Guide show did?

It mustn't have been that great if people can't even tell what it was about, right?

It wasn't AMAZING... it's good, though. I don't remember because I just woke up :)

Congrats! I'll have to see if it's online at some point - I used to buy Wizard monthly but first they cut out the review section, actually admitting that they didn't want to be putting out negative criticism; then began filling the features section with little beyond gushing previews and best-of lists; then the page count went down . . .

I stick to Comic Buyers Guide now, I love the sense of history in there. Good reviews too ;)

carol -- don't listen to aegis, it was AWESOME. the third paragraph was a little much, and of course the preview art was really the big surprise. dan didio hit the right combination of cryptic and informative, but i think it really raised and answered a lot of questions that come up on this board. and everything about gail and aaron was spot-on, even the unexpected parts. overall, it got me very excited, and just telling you all these specifics got me all excited AGAIN.

i'd go on, but i think mart's reply covered any of the details i missed.

Ben...

Maybe it was the third paragraph that I remember, hence my "less than glowing" reaction. I guess if I felt that moved by it, I would have bought the issue.

I'll take a second look.

The specifics here aren't all that specific. Mart's reply was a critique of the magazine in general and doesn't offer any details about the WW page - or does it? Is it code?

And mentioning the answers & questions from the board and "everything about gail and aaron was spot-on" could mean different things. Were the rash of rumors spot-on??

I haven't read Wizard magazine in years... but I am very curious as to what this is about!

After buying every issue from the very first one, I decided to drop it last month. It's really a shadow of what it used to be. It's a shame since it, and CBG used to be the only way I used to get all of my comics news.

CBG continues to be a class act, and I highly recommend it to anyone who hasn't tried it.

Since WW is in this month's Wizard I'll bite the bullet and pick it up next week.

No code from me! I'm ignorant as ever and would love to see a scan.

Or even just a summary/recap would be nice.

I made the hour drive to the comic shop, since I needed to grab BN:WW #2 and BN #6 anyway. Picked up the latest Wizard and what I'm looking at doesn't sound like what Ben C is describing. I don't see any preview art, unless he means the Crows cover, which most of us have already seen.

Can't put up a scan right now, so I'll summarize. It's a page with "Wonder What?" at the top with this underneath: "If you haven't been reading Gail Simone and Aaron Lopresti's Wonder Woman, gone are the cliche' conventions you may recall. Here's a look at Diana's current status quo."

1. Monkey Business. A band of Gorilla Knights have declared their allegiance to Diana; they live with her (even helping her shower), and fight beside her when called.

2. No More Amazons??? Zeus replaced the Amazons with his Gargareans (aka Olympians), dead warriors given new life and a mission - "to slaughter the dictators and dismember the warmongers." When Wonder Woman learns of Zeus' scheme, she renounces her Amazon ways and gets imprisoned on Themyscira.

3. Doomsday For Diana. During the Olympian debacle, WW baddies Dr. Psycho, Cheetah, and T.O. Morrow create a weaponized creature called Genocide to use against Wonder Woman - and the first time they fight, Genocide wins!

4. Welcome To Dumpsville. Most of the DCU's male characters would cut off their left testicle to get dirty with Diana, but when she proposes to Nemesis, he gives her the crap end of the dump spear and bails!

Then at the bottom:

2010: Diana Keeps Readers Wondering. Simone and Lopresti pit Wonder Woman against a new menace: five would-be schoolboys called the Crows with a murderous agenda against Diana - and that's before her throwdown with Power Girl in February's issue #41! From there, "Wonder Woman hits a level of excitement toward the summer that should keep people literally not sure what's going to happen from month to month," promises DC Story Editor Ian Sattler. "We're going to try something that's going to be really exciting, and taking that character down some territory that she's never been through before."

That's it. There are a few panels of art - two covers, and 3 interior panels. All already published, aside from the Crows cover.

Thanks, AC. I was going to get one today, but you beat me to it. I'm happy ben c thought it was awesome stuff, I truly am. But, as you've said, it's stuff we've seen already. I AM glad WW has positive press! :)

Well, positive press and active promotion ARE awesome for WW.

I reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeally hope that this effort to promote the Simone-Lopresti WW, plus whatever's coming up this summer, are evidence against Grant Morrison taking over the motherbook. Would you promote a book and creative team's work before pulling the rug out from under them?

(Well, yeah, one supposes a company could indeed do that, but one desperately hopes such is not the case. One loves one some Simone/Lopresti.)

DC Story Editor Ian Sattler?

I suppose that's an interesting change from Didio.

Its also nice to hear editors actually seeming to do their jobs. Too often these days you get the impression that all the editors do is run spell checks.

Thanks Atomcrush! Wizard can be a lot harder to find than it used to be!
