Orana. Well, a dead Orana.
Yeah, I know that Orana is Artemis, so to speak, but what do you think? I'd love to see Orana come back, even if it's just for the Blackest Night series. I'd be amused to see her want to kick Artemis' butt for taking what she believes is her place as Wonder Woman.
I know this probably won't be all that popular, but I thought I'd bring it up.

Does Orana even EXIST post-Crisis? Fairly sure she doesn't.
And if Artemis should be clashing with anyone in Blackest Night it's White Magician. He killed her and nobody ever mentions it.

I know she doesn't exist post-Crisis, Constantine.
It was wishful thinking on my part, I guess. And, yes, a rematch with the White Magician would be par for the BN course.
Maybe Orana should come back? Or an alternate Earth Orana? I just liked the character, but she was killed off so quickly.

Infinite Crisis and Final Crisis both warped reality and altered the histories of New Earth. For pretty much every hero, we've seen a large amount of old elements brought back into their histories (Batman did catch Joe Chill, Clark Kent was the original Superboy again). It wouldn't be too surprising if someone did one day say that the incedent with Orana did occur.

I love her outfit. The Amazons usually have such awesome designs.
But right now, I'm pretty sure Atie has her own problems. She and Hippolyta are prime candidates to become Black Lanterns right now.

So true. I could see Black Lantern Hippolyte going up against Star Sapphire Diana.
I think Orana was the first Amazon that I remember challenging Diana for her place as Wonder Woman and that intrigued me.

"Artemis vs. Black Lantern Orana" sounds so cool!
Wassup w/ the Cinnabon bras, though? They look like Viking women.
Peace.

If there is anyone that Artemis should have go toe to toe or should I say rematch with in Blackest Night, its the White Magician.

I love Orana! She seemed a little unhinged to me, but in a good way!

Man, I wish these older stories were available in TPB. I never got to read anything pre-crisis, besides the WW Archive books.

Theoretically the Orana storyline could be back in continuity. It does lessen Artemis as a character to just be the latest Amazon to take the mantle from Diana and die in the line of duty, but if Gail wants Orana to be part of Diana's history once more it could happen.

Artemis' mother has never been revealed. Perhaps her mother could be a Bana Amazon named Orana.

GOD! I LOVE ORANA! Although I have to agree that I don't think she would work in current continuity, I do lament that her story arc was sooo short. Having her come back as a Black Lantern would be awesome, if only for the costume! (I have always been partial to that era's Wondy costume, probably because it was the first one I ever saw)
Peter- That is a very good idea, and would explain a lot.
Dave- Thanks for this thread. It's about time Orana got some MB love!

Only if it involved Artemis killing him over and over again, in a variety of creative ways:evilsmile:

Or they also have alluded to their having been a few other Wonder Women before Diana.
Perhaps at the very least, they could do a similar retelling about Orana being a past Wonder Woman who died on her first mission; almost like what the Legion did with Kid Quantum.

Orana, the Amazon warrior of the Justice Experience from the 70s! She sadly didn't last long as a hero in Man's World. :frown:

Pre-crisis, this was a pretty common trope; Tonia was another Amazon who challenged Diana for the mantle of Wonder Woman (and, of course, learned it's a pretty difficult job after all!).
Pre-Crisis, Diana has to "rewin" the Contest annually, in order to keep her tiara and lasso, so any Amazon could have potentially replaced her if they won (especially if they demanded the challenge, which is also an Amazon right, as did Orana!)...

I always liked how, instead of training and getting rest before the Wonder Woman contest, Orana went out and partied instead....

And she won... I hope my students don't read that story. LOL It's hard enough to get them to do work.
