View Full Version : Let's play a game...Forgotten marvel heroes.

Factoring out DEAD heroes like Captain America II and "RETIRED" heroes like ROM and "CROWD" scenes like say in Contest of Champions or Secret Invasion, what marvel heroes have we not seen in the longest of time?

For example, it looks like Dr. Voodoo was "absent" from the Mu from the mid 80s appearance in Dr. Strange all the way to mid 00s when he came back in "fury's Howling Commandos.

Is there any other marvel hero with such a long time on the bench?

Someone read Secret Defenders!

Sepulchre was in fact in Thunderbolts. She was one of the heroes Ellis brought in and wrote so well (Along with American Eagle, Jack Flag, and Steel Spider). She took a job offer in another country (With Roxxon) because she didn't agree with registering.

Cadaver hasn't really been seen since Secret Defenders ended I think...though he was listed as a potential recruit for the Initiative.

Of the Slingers, Hornet is dead, Prodigy and Ricochet show up very occasionally, and Dusk seems to have been MIA since about a year and a half into Reed's run on Ms. Marvel. Why Ricochet hasn't moved to Utopia is beyond me. Plus, I think he'd be a fun addition to any of the X-teams, especially a reconstituted Generation X. Or given the mini-Gen X reunion in last week's FF, I could easily see him pallin' about with Johnny Storm.

Most of the characters from Byrne's excellent Marvel: The Lost Generation haven't been seen since.

Decibel, the former Chamber, seems to be MIA.

Silverclaw, I believe, hasn't been seen since the Busiek run of Avengers.

Whatever happened to Cecilia Reyes?

I think Firestar's been forgotten about since quitting during Civil War. If the SHRA is repealed, I'd love to see her on an Avengers team again one day.

She showed up during several tie-in issues of the 'Civil War' crossover as a hero who was arrested for unregistered antics.

Whatever happened to Cecilia Reyes?

She showed up this past year in NYX v.2 by Marjorie Liu, living in Brooklyn and apparently hiding from the world. She's got a modest apartment, a part-time job, and still keeps in contact with the Beast. She even has a framed picture of she and him from her days with the X-Men. Her escape from the mutant death camp Camp Neverland and why she is in hiding, and if she still has her powers, have yet to be explained.

Lupe should have just escaped and headed back towards South America. I doubt MadeUpCountry has an extradition treaty with the US.

Last time I saw Living Mummy was in Fury's Howling Commandos (although I think he was in the recent Punisher issue)

Why Ricochet hasn't moved to Utopia is beyond me.Possibly because he hasn't ever associated himself with mutants. Except perhaps Hollow. Maybe. But even that wasn't by choice.

We haven't seen some of the WWII heroes in a while. The Invaders were in Avengers/Invaders and the Avengers posed as some of the WWII heroes, but the heroes themselves weren't seen.

Apart from Kiden Nixon's alternate future appearance in Cable, we haven't seen the NYX characters since they had their own title.

Ricochet is currently with the Loners, all of whom have moved back to New York in the recent War of Kings: Darkhawk mini. With Darkhawk leaving the group to return to a life of superheroics right after Spider-Woman, Phil Urich and Hollow ditched the group, I don't see Ricochet abandoning Julie Power, Turbo, Namie and the other nameless new guys that showed up.

And like Joe mentioned last page, he hasn't really associated himself with mutants. He's more close with the people he is right now - Molly Hayes is a mutant, but she's also more close with she's with right now.

I don't see Ricochet abandoning Julie Power, Turbo, Namie and the other nameless new guys that showed up.

According to CB Cebulski just after Loners tanked, Darkhawk wouldn't be starring in any miniseries by other writers because "he's a Loners character", yet Darkhawk went on to Nova, Ascension and generally starring in books that actually sold and people wanted to read, while Mattie-Spidey has turned up in the reasonably successful ASM recently, so I'd say Ricochet will be going anywhere currently-published writers have plans for him, but I'm kinda thinking that a Slingers reunion is overdue (no, I don't mean use three bullets).
Joe Q said that they usually let things alone for at least three years (if they stop selling) before trying again, and I'm under the impression that comic-book trademarks need to be aired every few years in order to be retained by publishers - there are a lot of different permutations of the term 'Slingers' is all I'm saying. It might be in Marvel's interest to publish something to keep their trademark alive, especially given the rise in western-themed comic books lately.

Characters MIA: Crystar, Alex Wilder, 'Tattletale' Franklin Richards, Powerhouse, Mutant 2099, Machine Teen, Sentinel, Spellbinders, Speedball - the names can go to different characters if the originals are busy elsewhere, surely?

Pretty sure Sharon showed in in fairly recent Initiative issues, and Adam X was just in the Utopia crossover as Matt Fraction's idea of a joke.

We hadn't seen a lot of the old Marvel UK characters until Cornell threw the majority of them into the last issue of Captain Britain and MI13 for fun.

And how long has it been since we saw the REAL, original, future Guardians of the Galaxy characters, together or seperate? Everything we've seen of them recently in the current GotG series have been from various alternate futures.

The real Sharon was recovered from a downed Skrull ship after the final battle with the Skrull invaders. Being held captive for as long as she had has left some psychological trauma in her and she attends a support group with others who had been kidnapped and replaced by Skrulls.

The Neo-Knights were to have their own Marvel series but it never came to pass.

EXCLUSIVE - THE SERIES THAT NEVER WAS!
Remember the Neo-Knights? The superhero team formed to combat the battling robots in disguise in the deservedly classic Furman-Wildman run on Marvel's Transformers (circa issue #69-80)? Sure you do. How about Techno-X, that team's immediate second generation and base of operations for (at one time or another) all of Marvel's more technologically-based heroes? No? Well, it's hardly surprising, seeing as Techno-X never got off the launch pad. For the first time ever, the artwork-recently unearthed from the sub-sub-basement of chez Wildman-that accompanied the series pitch can be viewed here by all (because you're worth it). Gaze and wonder at the majesty (and machinery) that never was.

Put any of Marvel's international heroes on the list. El Aguila, swashbuckling mutant with bio-electric blast focused through his sword, comes to mind.
