Hawkman is one of my favorite characters and I'm elated to hear they're looking at him for a movie. Part Indiana Jones, part Da Vinci code, part Ghost.

Yes !!

I would bet this is partly in part to Geoff Johns influence.

The entire time I saw The Mummy I was thinking Hawkman.

Done right, this could definitely be DC's Iron Man.

Are you kidding? A guy tied down to a woman for eternity with bird wings? Tony Stark he is not.

I agree wholeheartedly!!!! I would love to see Hawkman with his own film! Done right with all the history involved in the character and based on Geoff John's series a few years ago, this could be a real winner for Warner and DC.

An epic plot involving Shadow Thief and The Gentleman Ghost would be awesome! Throw in some flashbacks to his Prince Khufu days......and it's on!

Go Hawkman!

I'll take a wait and see approach.

DC take ages to sort their movies out!

Remember this is a DC property, okay? So far the only successful DC franchise has been "Batman." I expect this to go straight to DVD or it will be just another box-office bomb ala "The Spirit".

If done right, it could be cool, play up the police officer from Thanagar scenario.

Meh. I'd rather see the adventurer aspect concentrated on.
One of the best Hawkman scenes I can recall was from JSA; Hawkman and Hawkgirl were wingless and tied up - being carted off by flying Thanagarian guards. Carter breaks the bonds and purposefully drops from a great height onto a passing flying patrol below. While in mid-air he beats them and steals their wings with just enough time to catch Hawkgirl.

So they're going with Carter Hall, I assume?

In my head, it looks wonderful, but I have no faith that they'll pull it off well. If a Hawkman project manages to escape development hell, I don't see it being better than decent.

I wish to be wrong, but somehow I feel that falls on deaf ears.

Cheers.

Carter Hall I can see as a TV movie/series while Katar Hol I see more as a blockbuster summer movie.

Working the reincarnated Egyptian prince and a paranoid secret society that has stood against him would be a great film.

Maybe the movie after that they work in the Thanagarian technology and a couple of JSA character cameos.

Yeah, Gentleman Ghost or the Shadow Thief would be great !

Hawkman is already in the smallville episode. Unless he gets a very positive review from that appearance , i can't see it.

The Superman movie franchise was successful from '78-'83, and the last movie managed a little $. Though not franchises, Constantine made a lot of money, and Road to Perdition and History of Violence were critically acclaimed.

Can you give us a link?
If it does happen, could be really cool...

So far the only successful DC franchise has been "Batman."I point you to the Christopher Reeves Superman movies 1 and 2. They were quite popular.

Wonder Woman, Justice League, Captain Marvel, Green Lantern, Hawkman.

What would be really cool is actually making one of these into an actual movie instead of just making announcements.
