I am reading the first Legion of Super-Heroes showcase and I have noticed that the time the legion is in shifts repeatedly, from the 21st century to the 30th century. Why is this? Is it a mistake or are these two distinct legions? Not the most important question in the world, but it's kind of funny reading about a futuristic 21st century and a 30th century, both looking very similar.

The original Legion stories placed them in the 21st century, but as the 21st century got closer, it became apparent that it wasn't going to look like the futuristic depiction from the comics...so they moved the legion to the 30th century.

I think.

no, they've always been 1000 years in the future, it was often forgotten by writers though and you'll see typos like the 20th century for a few years of stories to come. It was for kids, they didn't care
