Is that page with Phil Jimenez remaking Paul Smith/Marc Silvestri Brood covers the best thing ever or what?

Thanks! The art looks great. Maybe I won't drop the book afterall.

Phil Jiminez is the only reason to read this effing title right now. His Cyclops is dead frakking sexy.

That panel featuring Emma and Laurie/Sentinel is gorgeous. I love Jimemenez' rendition of Emma.

Shady mad scientists are a dime a dozen. I'm hoping this guy is actually an alias for Ms. Sinister.

That would make sense. A Wallflower who explodes into a giant flesh golem that shoots Brood out of its fingers could easily be conceived after copious alcohol consumption.

I like that one panel of Storm holding Emma back. Its like Phil adds extra little things in there for Ororo do do even if Warren isn't using her properly in the script. I mean, hello, Storm has some mystical connection with the Acanti and perhaps had her greatest feat ever in the original Brood epic. Hopefully that cover with Storm facing off against a million Brood actually is part of the story.

such trolling from the x-men writers lately!

I love the way he draws Emma too, PS.

Usually I love it when the X-Men hack up baddies like the Brood or The Hand ninjas(read: they can just be fodder for cool death scene moments and no one has to feel bad about it), but Ellis has been phoning it in so much on this title I have my doubts.

I heard the writers' retreat was basically like a summer camp movie set in the early-'80s, but with more hazing.

When Kyle and Yost take over the writing on Uncanny I would absolutely love it if Jimenez gets to do the art...as an X-title, AXM is quite irrelevant...but the art is amazingly scrummy!

That's funny. I edited it, but I originally referenced Meatballs, based on this photo I found of Craig Kyle and Chris Yost.

Big fan of the first arc and this one is shaping up to be better. AXM is the only Marvel comic I need, though SWORD was just as good.

Why? We got rid of the weakest link with the bullet? Colossus left the team after Kitty went bye bye.

I am so much more happy with my Colossus free Astonishing X-Men, my only complaint is Whedon had to sacrifice Kitty so Colossus would leave.

I'm liking the Jimenez more and more as time goes by. He draws Cyclops "slim" just like he is supposed to be. He still draws Wolverine way too slim, but he does the extreme body hair on Logan perfectly, just like Byrne and Terry Austin did in the 70's. Jimenez is like a mixture between George Perez and John Byrne.

Eh, that is true, Scott has the body that Toby Maguire had in the Spiderman movies. Still, I can dig it!

I'd give Ellis credit for doing some interesting things with the Decimation, if his stories weren't such steaming piles of techno-wank. The characterisations aren't bad, to be fair.

Meanwhile, Jimenez touches me in naughty places.

Sometimes sacrifices must be made for the greater good.

Wait, what am I saying? I like Colossus. Why the Peter hate?

See I love the techno-wank. But I don't fit the normal parameters of human thought.

Also, I don't hate Peter, he just never really clicked with me. Then again I read UXM #304 at an early age, so that reflects negatively for me.

Remember, Scott's nickname is "slim" for a reason. Jimenez seems to remember this, while the rest of the current X-Men artists don't..

His nickname is Slim because he was very weak and thin when he was a teenager. These days, it doesn't make much sense to portray him that way.

Has Ellis commented on this arcs villain?

I'm curious to see if it's someone we've seen before. I bet Forge will be brought back during this arc. Probably why we haven't seen him in Necrosha.

1. Bryne did get it right!

2. No comments from Ellis, he's been so swamped with work he's stopping his Bad Signal.

3.Can't confirm anything about Laurie.

4. Forge was turned into foam from the space cannon Abby shot his mountain hide out.

I am one of the people who actually like Simone Bianchi's art, but Phil Jimenez is just KILLING it on this title!! I have enjoyed AXM so much more since he took over the art (and I've never been a big Phil fan, I'm a huge TeenTitans/Titans fan and all the other Titans fans used to talk about him in such high praise but I never saw what everyone else saw with his work, that is until now!!!)!! I just have found this arc more interesting and entertaining than the previous one, but Phil's art is like the icing on the AXM cake!

Can't wait until next week!!!

Thanks to Phil, I can now actually seem interested in Ellis' techno-wank, though the vast majority still shoots way over my auburn-locked noggin.

Jimenez touches me all over...

Completely agree. I love Simone Bianchi's Ghost Box art. I often take my hardcover out just to look at the pretty pictures.
