Hopefully this isn't to esoteric. The theme is Beautiful but Functional. Basically anything that is aesthetically pleasing (in the eye of the beholder) but look isn't the primary function of the item. To-wit:

The Philco Predicta television.

Looking around for something to include in this week's avatar contest I found the Digitus, an upcoming product which is a ring that is also a functioning digital watch. Cool, functional and beautiful. Bet they'll cost an arm and a leg when they come out, but I'd sure like to have one. I tend to lose watches, but this I think I could hang on to.

I'm surprised no ones thought of that before now...invented one I mean. I don't wear a watch, I always use my cell but every so often even my cell is not immediately to hand and I need to know the time. I think it's a good idea.

Hell yeah, it's an idea whose time has come.

Fender Stratocaster. An American original. Of the type wielded by a left-handed guitar god.

Anyway, the point being the Strat is as close as you get to being the "standard" electric guitar, and yet a damn masterpiece of both form and function.

When you talk about "beautiful but functional", you're talking about the heart of the Arts & Crafts (http://char.txa.cornell.edu/art/decart/artcraft/artcraft.htm) movement, and when you talk about the Arts & Crafts movement, you inevitably will get to the Morris Chair. Here's one as made by Stickley (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gustav_Stickley).

The "killer bra" was used to great effect in a bizarre '60s film called "The Tenth Victim," worn by Ursula Andress, I believe.

That's inevitably going to be a battle. But I don't think any electric guitar screams "electric guitar" quite as much as the Fender Strat.

No doubt it's about as classic a look as there is. I tend to be enamored of hollow body electrics.
