I'll post what I posted in the Community thread....
Group A - WTF? Did France cheat again? LOL...
South Africa's gonna get smacked out of the competition. So Mexico or Uruguay may get the other spot.
B - Aw... F**k. Nigeria's in another crazy group. Argentina's probably getting in, but I have no idea who's going in after that. I'm hoping Nigeria, but Greece is good.
C - US, England. Pretty easy bracket for them. If either of them mess up, then they deserve it.
D - Germany's probably in. Ghana might show up, but I'm leaning on Serbia.
E - Netherlands, Cam, next.
F - Italy's lucky. Paraguay's probably in too.
G - OUCH!!!! North Korea's screwed, the rest are in for a dogfight. I have no idea here.
H - Spain, Switz. Next.

Great. Between France and the Home Team.

South Africa may have a good chance if, like in the past World Cups, the refs look the other way when the home team's playing. Korea/Japan went as far as to annulate a ton of goals.

I don't know why England seem so concerned about the USA team as they are inconsistant at times.
Even before the draw, a lot of English commentators and reporters said that England would have hoped to avoid the American team in the draw. I would have been more worried about playing Mexico than the USA.
There are some unusual World Cup countries in the draw and I can't see North Korea, Honduras, Slovakia or New Zealand getting out of their groups. All of them have been at the World Cup before except for Slovakia (although Czechoslovakia were losing finalists twice) but I think they'll struggle.
I don't think the African nations will be as great as people are saying and I've heard suggestions that an African nation will reach the semi-finals. I can't see that happening unless there is favoritism on the levels that helped South Korea to the semis in 2002. Going by the draw it is even possible that no African team will reach the second round.
I'm cheering for the Dutch in the tournament and they're playing against Denmark (another of my favourite teams), Japan and Cameroon. They aren't world beating teams but all of them are capable of taking points on a bad day for Holland.
I'm thinking that Germany might do well if they can pick up a bit before the tournament (which they do tend to do) and if they get their side organised, they might have a little chance of winning the World Cup.

South Africa may get some favoritism, but I doubt they will get far...
However, if they survive, Ivory Coast, Cameroon, and Nigeria would be the African teams to look at.
They are capable of taking on and beating the best. They are also prone to messing up at times. But they are dangerous none the less...
As for the semi-finals? A bit much. Though I'd love that.

I don't understand why people think France have blagged it; they're a side made up of good players playing badly who can be beaten, and will struggle agianst the teams in their group.

No, you won't. But you can qualify for the second round if you stay consistant.

A
South Africa
Mexico
Uruguay
France
France and Mexico, unless Mexico self-destruct. Again. In that case, the host nation slips in.
B
Argentina
Nigeria
South Korea
Greece
Argentina's the only easy pick. The other three dogfight for the second spot.
C
England
USA
Algeria
Slovenia
Fairly easy group for them. If the US struggles here, an early exit. If they manage to beat England, they go deep.
D
Germany
Australia
Serbia
Ghana
Germany is the given. Australia, if they keep focused. If not, no idea.
E
Netherlands
Denmark
Japan
Cameroon
Euros FTW.
F
Italy
Paraguay
New Zealand
Slovakia
After Italy, no clue.
G
Brazil
North Korea
Ivory Coast
Portugal
Portugal is often under-rated.
H
Spain
Switzerland
Honduras
Chile
Euros FTW pt 2!

Portugal are a poor side with a poor manager who's managed to blag it, and will be pushing it if they get through, though one does have to feel sorry for North Korea as they're going to take three complete hidings.

People said the smae in 1966 when North Korea beat Italy and were 3-0 ahead against Portugal in the quarter final before falling to a 5-3 defeat.

That was in 1966!
Portugal now are a disjointed side who rely upon Ronaldo and (probably foolishly as Ronaldo has never performed at international level as he should) try to build a side round him, rather than making him the stand out player in a good side.
