I had cause to be flipping back through WW 13 just now, and noticed at the end of the issue that an Iowa class battleship is patrolling the waters off the coast of Themyscira.

Since most or all of these ships have been relegated to the reserve navy [and therefore inactivity] is this the same ship we see Jason attack, or a different reactivated Iowa class?

You are mistaking me for the Invisible Brett.

And the question remains. Is it the New England in WW13?

We actually had a long thread about this on my YABS board a while back.

I had the research help of an active duty officer in the US Navy to help me get the details right, and I think we did pretty good, but I did intentionally use a bit of Artistic License when it came to the ship itself. The key was the word BATTLESHIP, which had a definite connotation I wanted, although I knew there were no active ships in that class anymore, that word had a particular meaning when facing the Argo, so I made up a ship rather than use a real one. In the DCU, the class is still on active duty.

That was a good thread, and here it is:

The battleship does indeed have enormous symbolic power, and its own unique mythology.
