Note the word, "quibble" in the subject. I am probably being excessively pedantic.
And they're not wrong, because it's patently clear to anyone studying market history that the fans are disinterested too.
That's UNinterested, not DISinterested (although the fans are probably disinterested as well, too many pretend they aren't).

Using words correctly isn't being pedantic. "Disinterested" is not the same as "uninterested", and doesn't mean anything *like* "uninterested". I thought they taught that in fourth or fifth grade, but not anymore, apparently.

Actually, the Oxford English Dictionary says the two are synonymous, in one usage, but have other non-synonymous usages... and that the careful writer doesn't use them synonymously.
Anyway, mea culpa. Fast and sloppy writing.
