So is anyone else reading this? The last couple of issues have been amazing and it looks like it'll build to a climax in #12. I take it this is a limited series? There's no info on the DC website, but I hope they don't drag it out too long.
I love the book so far and I can't wait to see how it ends.
How does it compare to Waid's Irredeemable? I heard somewhere that they were similar...

There are a few of us. There have been other threads in the past.

Yes, the series is amazing. It was originally designed to be an ongoing series that came to a climax in #12, then took a few months off, and later continued in a different direction. However, the sales have sucked (who do the best books always sell so bad?) so it is now scheduled to come to a complete end in #12.

I have no idea.

I don't know the premise of The Mighty, but Irredeemable is about when a Superman-level hero just snaps and starts killing people left and right. Now a small group of heroes and former villains are trying to take him down.
It started off amazingly well. Then it kind of slid a little when they had four issues in a row that all centered on how horrible the Plutonian had become. Now, though, the story has gotten back on track and things are picking up again.

The Mighty was one of the those books I wanted to try, I just couldn't squeeze it into my budget. Sorry to see that it's ending so soon.

You should pick it up if you can, Don. There's a trade with issues 1-6 coming out next month (presumably with a second trade to follow).

That was the plan.

Great series. Love it.
The lastest issue explains it all.
Hate to see it ending.

Does it? Or will there be more surprises? I'm not so sure.
And has Alpha One really won Gabe over, or is he just playing along?

I love it. It's easily one of the best books being put out right now and I'm very sad to see it go.
I can't wait to see Gabe take Alpha One out once and for all.

That was the original plan, but Didio said just recently that there are now no plans after #12.

Weird thing is, I can't see it working as an ongoing. I think the premise is great, but it has to have a definite end. There are only so many stories you can tell about a Superman-level character who's a bad guy. The suspension of disbelief tends to wear thin.
Empire had a pretty clear end to it and in many ways so will Irredeemable, regardless of what Waid says.
Evil can always crop up to face Supes because he shys away from the ultimate sanction. In the case of Aplha One, the Plutonian, Golgoth, and the Evil Authority every opponent ends up dead quicksmart... 'Twill be interesting to see how long they can keep any of these books going as a monthly.
Glad to see there's a DC fanbase for something without the Blackest Night banner...

The premises are similar ("Superman gone bad," to keep it simple); the differences are in the details and execution.
I am a big fan of both books and I don't really see one as a knockoff or copy of the other. I'm quite sad to see The Mighty ending at issue #12, but at least it will have the chance to conclude its current storyarc properly instead of ending midstream.

Without knowing what they had planned, I can't say. What I am curious about is, when it ends with #12, will it be the original ending to the initial arc that they had intended, or did they change things when they found out it wouldn't be continuing/ coming back?
