View Full Version : What is your impossible dream?

What would be your dream ambition thats seems impossible to ever happen?

I wanted to be a wrestler for years but I knew my bouts of serious asthma and anxiety attacks would prevent that from ever happening. I was rather small too as I'm 5'8" and weighed around 150lb between the ages of 16 and 21. Ill health has pushed that to 215lb but I'm fat and unhealthy.

I always dreamt of wrestling at Wrestlemania in front of a massive audience. I always wanted to drop a knee on the back of someone's head and then apply an armbar to get a tapout to win the WWE championship but unless I ever buy out Vince McMahon that isn't going to happen any time soon.

I want to write the Legion of Superheroes for a year with little or no editorial interference. It will never ever happen.

I wanted to be a WNBA Star. ...

Seriously, I even played basketball during middle school. But I soon realized that despite my heart for the game, my skills are only average and I decided to go into the arts instead of basketball Freshman year in high school.

Becoming a well-regarded author of popular literary fiction and making enough doing that to raise a family. Pretty unlikely, especially since I'm doing short fiction right now and feel I don't yet have the sea legs (or research legs) for the three novels or two novellas currently in my head I'd like to write. The novels are perhaps too quirky for mass appeal as well. I also never feel like I'm ever going to be well-read enough, so there is a tendency for me to retreat into reading more rather than charge into writing more.

Oh man, my impossible dream? I guess fighting the unbeatable foe...bearing with unbearable sorrow...running where the brave dare not go...the usual crap, really.

In reality, my dreams have been the same as many of the ones already posted.

Like Weetomuncher I wanted to be a wrestler at one time, before I found out about the kind of bumps you have to take, that the job might almost necessitate drug abuse in order to keep up with the schedule, and that Vince McMahon is a shitty boss.

At one time I wanted to be a rock star, but I rethought that after seeing the kind of exposure musicians have to endure. I really wouldn't like having my personal life under a microscope all the time. The next best thing would be to write songs professionally, like Desmond Child did (and possibly still does, I don't know); get your work out there, get paid for it, escape the media scrutiny. But that's not going to happen.

It would've been cool to have become a journalist and have my own column, particularly if that column was about a sport I liked. (I used to be a baseball fan, and am still a basketball fan as you may have deduced from the fantasy b-ball league I set up.) Didn't happen though.

It's not that any of my dreams were 'impossible' dreams, but rather that I've always lacked the drive and stamina to put my back into it and realise them. :frown:

Goes to show I never bothered to sit down and listen to the lyrics of that song. 'Willing to march into hell for a heavenly cause'. With me it's more like 'Willing to sit on my couch with a bag of potato crisps and a sitcom on, and be satisfied'.

Not sure if it's impossible, but I'd like to have a chance to draw at least one Batman story. Even if I never did anything again in comics, I'd consider that my own triumph!

Heck, I'd even take a JSA story instead if they'd let me, but Bats would be my ultimate!

A couple actually:

- To one day work at a job that I like, where I can not only teach people about Chinese history and culture, but still maintain my Chinese language skills without having to relocate myself to China and still able to maintain my Catholic faith. Though not initally impossible, I must admit that lately it's starting to seem like it is.

- To become a bodhisattva and ensure that all beings are led out of this world of suffering to the shores of peace. Again, not totally impossible. Buddhist sutras write this can be done, but only after countless lifetimes (think ten to the number of grains of sand in the ocean power).

- Have Anne Hathaway, Majorie M. Liu, or Chun Li (yes, Chun Li from Street Fighter II) as a girlfriend.

Geoff Johns is more than a pretty good writer. he's an excellent writer of comics.

I don't even LIKE Hal Jordan and the whole Color Corps thing sounded stupid to me when i heard about it but BLACKEST NIGHT is kicking ass and so are the GL books.

If any writer can make me not only tolerate Hal's presence but actually enjoy it, that writer is AWESOME.

Because Hal is usually a deal breaker for me.

I'm one of these people who naively thinks that nothing short of actually breaking the laws of physics is impossible.

So I'm gonna have to go with breaking the laws of physics and being able to fly under my own power.

My dream is to be able to write for a living - comic books, tv shows, movies, novels, anything! I also want to travel a lot and see the world. I want to fall in love and I want to be happy. I want to be a better man than I am.

None of these things are impossible. I'm writing, hoping to self publish. I'm applying for a programme to send me to Japan for a while to teach. I have a great girlfriend with whom things are going well. And I'm trying, my very hardest.

Although I think I now have to add being part of Femmy's Hellfire club to my list. Anything but a pawn, pleeease Femmy?

None will ever come true.

So in a discussion on another thread I was reminded that I was once approached in regards to being a 'madame' (yes that kind of madame) when I live in SF. I think as I have already been recognized for my talent, I would like to apply for a postion as queen. However since I declined the invitation, I suppose my resume is not quite up to snuff.
