I remember watching and loving the Marvel Superheroes cartoons as a kid. Yeah, the animation was cheap, but the stories were good (seeing that they were taken straight from the comics, the original art was used, and, frankly, the animation worked well enough.

Does anybody know an authoritative source for the lyrics to the songs? I believe that every theme in the bunch has words that are hard to decipher. For example,

"When Captain America throws his mighty shield,
All those who chose to oppose his shield must yield,
He ????? to a fight and the ?duel is due?
And the red and the white and the blue will come true when
Captain America throws his mighty shield!"

And I took a look at "Super Squad"; I'll take Marvel Superheroes over that any day.

As far as I know it's

"When he's led to a fight and a duel is due
then the red and the white and the blue come through..."

That was the only one of those theme songs I ever learned, aside from the opening line of "Spider-Man, Spider-Man, does whatever a spider can."

Not even 'Hulk! HULK! HULK!
By the way, my memory is not THAT good; Youtube has been a big help, as has ToonTracker.

With the Hulk, the 3rd line sounds like, and some sources claim, "Ain't he unglamoray?"

The next line is what, "Wrecking the towns with the power of a bull"?

The opening and closing theme songs are easier; here are my problem lines from the themes.

Iron Man: "He fights and fights with repulsor rays"?
Submarier: "So be wary every seaman?"
Thor "You'll behold in grandest/endless wonder?" (sounds to me like "Grandless")

No, not even. I didn't remember that in the slightest.

Well, the version I looked up (http://homepage.mac.com/jjbeach/einheri/music/hulk.html) claims it's 'Ain't he Unglomoray'

What a bizarre theme song for the hulk!
Particularly the music that comes back in after they sing the final 'HULK!'.
It's not the first tune that comes to mind when you think of the character.

My grandson LOVES superheroes, and he always asks me to sing superhero songs. As most superheroes don't have songs, it usually ends up being the 1960's Batman theme with the name of the superhero inserted. But when he asked me to sing the Hulk song, and I sang him that one, he said, "That's not the Hulk song!" I used mainly ToonTracker as a source.

What song did he want you to sing?

Did you just hum the 'Banner walks down the road leaving another town' music?

It's "Ain't he unglamorous?"

That's nowhere near as fun.

You did not remember "Is he strong? Listen bud, he's got radioactive blood" That made me a laugh even as a kid (watching it in syndication of course.)

Nope. I remember hearing it in the Ramones version but not from the original.

Frankly, I'm not sure even HE knew. After all, he also wanted me to sing the Wolverine song and the X-Men song. On the other hand, if he wants me to do the Watchmen song, well, I do a pretty decent version of Desolation Row, and I know all the verses.
