Bishop is going to be all pissy again, thus decreasing his fanbase even more.

He'll always have the pissed off AA fans crying because he's not "black".

I don't even think Bishop had a big fanbase in the first place actually.
He shoots a gun.
Whopeeeeee.

Did they advertise a death?
If so, I don't think it'll be Magneto.
I mean they just brought him back, and IMO he's too good a character to bring back and then just kill off.
Oooh maybe Bishop will die!
I don't think many people would mind that.

It will be some random characters that die like Nightcrawler or Northstar or Iceman or Karma etc etc

Yep. And they said it would not be a Caliban. Some A-lister's gonna buy it.

Bastion assimilates Magneto. Warlock and Danger consummate (while Madison watches) and breed the Lambda Lambda Lambda Sentinels. Psylocke's buttocks make an appearance. The last Bishop fan weeps.

Remember though when they "killed" Cable in X-Men 200?
By advertising a death they pretty much sold that book, only to bring him back a few weeks later.

I'm sure that advertising a death was what sold X-Men 200.

Among other things.
But they did make a hell of a big deal over it.

I'm anticipating this storyline a lot, especially some resolution to the whole Hope thing. It sucks that Kyle & Yost are leaving X-Force, but hopefully they'll just move on to another X-project and X-Force will get a good creative team going forward.
I'll take Cable or Bishop (maybe both) in the death pool.

I hope it is Beast or Cyclops to be honest. Not because THEY SUCK AND NEED TO DIE or anything, but it seems logical given the boost both have received. Total climax to this neverending story would be one of them dying.

Beast's in SWORD, tho. Though I do fear they might go that rute with Scott. Though it won't stick for long, tbh.

Even though no one major ever really dies in these things (*cough*Cable*cough*Xavier*cough*), I always look forward to the big line-wide shake-up of all the X-books. New titles, new teams, new rosters, new costumes, etc. I'm a sucker for change, even when it's not always for the better.

Hey, at least you have the pleasure of going on about "second coming" some more...

It's the sequel to Messiah Complex, where Hope returns to the present and Bastion decides to start his grand plan.

Exactly. In Messiah Complex, both Cable and Xavier appeared to die at some point. Both were brought back almost immediately. Before that they tried "killing" Cyclops when Apocalypse possessed him during The Twelve story arc and "permanently" merged with him and took over his consciousness. They've killed Magneto at least ten times, and Colossus and Jean have both died and "gotten better" (though, I will admit, Jean has been dead for probably the longest period of time of any X-man, which is why I fully expect her return in Second Coming).
At this point about the only death which might have any shock value is Wolverine's, and even that would be diminished by them killing him for shock value in X-men Forever and Ultimatum. Plus, everyone knows he'd be back within a month anyway.
Yes, it does appear as though both Bishop and Cable will bite it in Second Coming...but does anyone care? I mean, if you don't like them, great. You get to watch them die...and then come back in a few months with a fresh coat of paint and probably a new book. If you do like them, well, you have to wait a few months to read about them again. It's kind of tiresome IMO.
Personally I wouldn't mind if Marvel decided to purge the X-books of these time-traveling characters from alternate nightmarish futures once and for all (and I say that as someone who likes Cable, but preferred him before they made him a time-displaced Summers kid), but they won't. Especially not Cable. He's going to be in the downloadable content for the Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 video game soon. He'll probably appear in an X-men film or spin-off film (like Deadpool). He'll probably show up in the Wolverine and the X-men cartoon next season (since it does take place in the "Age of Apocalypse"; of course, they could go the Ultimate route here and make him a future version of Wolverine, but either way I still bet Cable shows up in some form). My point is that Marvel is not going to permanently do away with one of their intellectual properties, not even Bishop, who doesn't have all of these things going for him.
So, like I said, I don't even care who they kill anymore. That move is old hat. I'm just more interested in the changes that will come about after the crossover (i.e., new books, new teams, new costumes, etc.).

The A-List characters might get resurrected as time goes on, but Peepers is still dead.

As much as the X-writers seem to joke about him...how do you know he isn't the "second coming" referred to in the crossover's title?

Because Joe Quesada doesn't want the mutant race to become overwhelmingly powerful? Peepers is too strong a player to be allowed to live, sadly.

Karma's "died" twice already. Give someone else a chance.
I'm hoping Dani Moonstar will come out of this with her powers back, but with my luck she'll be the one who dies.

Agreed. One of the reasons I'm looking forward to this is the potential to tie up loose ends and launch into a period of non-crossoverdom.

I have to agree whole heartedly with this. Crossovers and "events" are great but only if they are broken up with periods of relative normality.
Comic Book Resources have published a real in depth interview with the current X-Franchise creators on next years big X-event; “X-Men: Second Coming”
What’s it all about? CBR have the rundown:
“In March of 2010, Cable and Hope return to the present. Kicking off the final chapter in the Messiah Trilogy, "X-Men: Second Coming" was announced today at the Diamond Retailer Summit. It's a multi-part crossover that begins in the "X-Men: Second Coming" one-shot, then runs through issues of "Uncanny X-Men," "X-Men: Legacy," "X-Force" and "New Mutants," before ending in June with another one-shot. CBR News spoke with writers Craig Kyle, Chris Yost, Matt Fraction, Mike Carey, and Zeb Wells and Editor Nick Lowe about the crossover.2
Chris Yost told CBR. "I think you'll finally see some answers to questions that were posed way back in Messiah Complex,” "Who, and what, is Hope? What does her return mean to the X-Men?"
"You'll see new books being born and existing books being redefined," Mike Carey said. "As with 'Messiah Complex,' I hope it will feel like the natural playing out of elements we've been building for a long time. You'll suddenly see the relevance of a whole lot of stuff." – This is really interesting – What titles will be changed, which titles canceled and which new ones will be born out of this x-over?
One of the titles that will definitely be ending for its creators (and perhaps disappearing from shelves altogether) is X-Force. CBR wrote:
“For Craig Kyle and Chris Yost, "X-Men: Second Coming" is doubly satisfying because not only is it the final chapter of the Messiah Trilogy, it's also the final chapter in their run on "X-Force." "Chris and I have had a plan from the beginning of what we wanted to do with this team. We knew what the last page of our last issue on the title looked like," Craig Kyle said. "This is going to close a chapter for us, and like our run on 'New X-Men,' it's exciting because we planned for it and knew it was coming. We've been talking with everybody for about a year and a half now about how we wanted to go out, and it's going to be in a blaze of glory.”
I’m really happy an end is now in site for the Messiah Complex, I’ve really enjoyed the previous chapters and have been following Hope’s journey in the pages of Cable so I cant wait to see how this plays out and what Hope’s true powers are. Xciting stuff!
