What makes a moment cool? How do you define a great moment that is forever etched in your memory? This last decade has given us many moments worthy of remembrance, and this is the thread where you can show what are the coolest moments you X-Periencied during it. Choose carefully and post scans of said moments, you all know that an image is worth 1000 words!! Take a little time to explain to us why this moment was so cool you had to share it and discuss the moments posted!!
Let me begin with this:
http://stormantic.files.wordpress.com/2008/12/205scan6iz0.jpg
Storm fighting against Sinister, the Acolytes and the Marauders while allowing her friends to escape... it was such a terrific moment, definetely one of the coolest one of the last decade.
Just to clarify, the LAST decade is from 2000 to 2009, just in case

The best thing in an X-book that happened in the last decade was Storm, covering a retreat... that took place off-panel?
Not exactly setting the bar high, here. I wouldn't even put that in the Top 5 of Storm moments from that decade.

Anything Ororo does is the best thing to happen to an x-book :D
And sure, the Eternity in her head is far better, but it was an FF moment for example, or the battle with the Surfer, also an FF moment. It's "X-Moments", and I never said that particular moment is the best, it's just a very cool moment i did like a lot, which is the point of the thread, sharing "cool" moments.

Well, I'm trying to find that image of Rogue absorbing Cyclops and Emma's powers while they were K.O'ed, when she blows up the fish tank at that institute where Lady M and Karima were being held.
Sadly, most image galleries involving Rogue are overloaded with fan-art of her in Savage Land garb, or like every still frame from X-Men: Evolution... so I'm having trouble locating it. Where the hell is Hi-Fi to save the day?

Magneto never left Genosha, he had nothing to do with Xorn.

magneto shows up to take wanda away in late 2004, planet x was also 04 i think, so i guess the idea is that, since joe q has been very vocal about wanting to deliberately retcon this aspect of the run, that wanda brought magneto back before strange made her comatose, in which case magneto is basically not real right now.
so either you agree that this is all bullshit, or you admit that the current magneto is a byproduct of wanda's powers and is basically an unreal phantom who strange or harkness or someone can bamf back out of existence.

Planet X ended in December of 2003, Excalibur Vol. 3 began in July of 2004. Avengers Disassembled ended (which is when Magneto showed up to save the Scarlet Witch) in January of 2005.

He's skipping over the fact that Magneto was brought back long before Wanda needed his help in Avenger's Disassembled.
And as Strange pointed out in Avengers Disassembled, Wanda altered reality, the things she did were real. She did kill the Vision, Ant Man, and Hawkeye, just as she later wiped out most of the mutant population.
If Magneto is something that can be "undone" by Harkness or Strange, then so should M-Day be.
But it is not, and neither is he.

in disassembled it's clear that wanda's phantom children weren't real and were phantoms zapped back out of existence by harkness. and the kree didn't really attack and ultron didn't really show up, but they were all concrete objects and actually hurt people. so basically, to go along with this idea, you are admitting that the current magneto isn't real, he's one of wanda's phantoms.
i mean that's cool he can talk and use powers and you can touch him but the right man can snap fingers and that dude is going to be similarly erased. it's just not a position that a magneto fan should feel comfortable with.

Its easily one of the worst retcons I've ever seen. It pretty much killed any interest in X-men outside of Astonishing post-Morrison. I know Magneto was insane during Planet X, but the way I saw it was Xorn was the ultimate good of Erik. Caring, wise, resort to violence only when necessary, and a generally great guy. However, when Sublime in the form of Kick took over him, we saw the ultimate evil side of Magneto. Destructive, arrogant, brutal, and just not a very nice guy to be with. However, the good side of him, Xorn, continued to haunt him and shine through as the true form of Magneto, and it ultimately led to his downfall and eventual death.

She brought them back for House of M, and then earsed them again. Just as she brought back Hawleke, and then erased him when he attacked her (House of M #7), and then brought him back after House of M was over.
Strange and Harkness have no power over what Wanda does (She killed Harkness in Avengers Disassembled, and then brought her back in New Avengers #26) because Wanda is not using magic, she is altering reality.
So Magneto is as real, the only one that can erase him is Wanda just as she can erase anyone else that she has not even touched yet.

The problem was that Morrison, who obviously did not know jack about the character beyond what he had seen in the films pushed Magneto to reaches he had never been to before. The 616 Magneto is not, nor has he ever been, genocidal.
That was why it had to be retconned. It destroyed Magneto as a character.
The point of Magnto is that he has a point. He is not an simple unrepentant evil to be dismissed. Turn him into a drug-addled genocidal lunatic, and you have removed the creatvie integrity of the character and his ability to point things out about the X-men's philosophy. he ceases to b e their mirror, and just becaomes the monster of the week.

I can see that, I just went with the flow of the story that Kick increased his mutant abilities to such an incredible level and he started to lose his damn mind. That, plus the explanation I gave above, lets me separate Planet X Magneto from other/Claremont-era Magneto. I know he was gonna get brought back eventually, thats what superhero comics do, but MAN what a god awful shitty way to do it.

It had to be not him. It's like when they brought Jean back the first time. They had placed such a evil act on the character (eating a sun and wiping out an entire populated planet), there was no way to bring her back without her playing for it, so they (Busiek) came up with the "Phoenix Force".
After making the character recreate the Holocaust (which had some fans screaming in offense), they had to make it so that Magneto was not guilty of that at all, especially as they were probably planning on House of M at that stage. How is anyone suppsoed to feel sympathetic to this character for House of M if he has been turned into a genocidal lunatic?
The idea that Magneto never left Genosha and Xorn just went crazy is not a bad retcon, it explains some pretty glaring plot holes in Planet X in fact. But then Austen threw in the Xorn twin and everyone just got confused.

No, Adam Baldwin (no relation to *the* Baldwins).
Its from "Firefly" in which he played a very big macho mercenary named Jayne Cobb. When his mother sent him that hat, one of the other characters commented, "A man walks down the street wearing that hat, people know he's not afraid of anything."
To which Jayne replied "Damn straight."

hale and hearty idiom
In robust good health, as in After her long bout with pneumonia, I was glad to see her hale and hearty. This redundant expression, since both hale and hearty here mean “healthy,” probably survives owing to its pleasing alliteration. [Mid-1800s]

In [Uncanny] X-Men #4 Magneto tried to nuke an island nation. He wanted to kill the entire human population of the island and expressed his desire to enslave the rest of the human population.
Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch objected to Magneto's plan and at the last minute Quicksilver defied Magneto and de-activated the nuclear bomb.
During the original X-Men days, Magneto did want to mass kill humans and enslave the rest and he did want to kill the X-Men.
As I've argued before, Xorn represented the version of Magneto that Claremont wrote. Xorn represented Magneto's good and noble side. Like Xorn said he was Magneto's inner star.
Sublime influenced Magneto allowed Morrison to write Magneto the way he originally was.
It was the best of both worlds until it was retconned to hell. They should have had Jean or Wanda resurrect Magneto and they could have simply blamed his genocide on Sublime.

One of my alltime favorite villains buys the farm. You would think that I'd be upset to see him go, but I was actually relieved. It was a mercy killing for a character that had been completely mishandled and irreparablely punked out over the last decade. I would rather see Sabretooth killed off than watch him get mistreated any longer in the 616. Farewell Sabretooth, this fan will miss you.
