I'm looking for a good one to scan art, and pictures. Any suggestions? It would help if it worked great with a Mac.

Well, it is my understanding that flatbed scanners up to A3 format nowadays should have become affordible, usable and high quality pretty much. I bought my workplace an Epson (on their budget) which is German and quite nifty. I myself find that Hewlett Packard works about as well however, which is usually in a more welcomely price range.
I haven't spent much time around a Mac or Apple but I could ask around. Mainly I believe my Apple-head buddies would say: "everything works well on a Mac".
Hope that helps...

Here's a link to Epson's scanner product page. Prices very but if you're looking to scan artwork that is comic book page size, you'll need at least an 11 x 17 scanner. You can go smaller, but it means stitching the images together in P'Shop.

I just picked this one (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16838135002&Tpk=mustek%20scanner%20a3) up. I was asking around and aside from ebay hunting this would be the most affordable and quality one to get. I use it with my Mac book OSX 5.8 and its been great so far.

Morna and I have an Epson "Perfection" 1250. It's about ten eight years old. It can be frustrating and uncooperative sometimes (Doesn't want to start up) but it, like most scanners, does a "true" scan for the whole length of the page. Ours is too small to scan 11 x 17, but current Photoshop (we have CS3) stitch images quite easily and seamlessly. In fact, Morna does paintings with oil bars on paper and we have scanned pieces that require stitching together four or six scans with excellent results. When I researched scanners a year or two ago, machines that could scan 11 x 17 were still very expensive. A small scanner plus Photoshop is way more affordable.

I use a Mustek A3 1200 Pro scanner. It can scan 11x17 pages no problem. I've heard iffy reviews about its compatibility with Macs, though. It's about 95% compatible with Windows XP, which is what I'm using, and any glitches I've encountered are always fixed if I restart my computer. It's available for under 200 dollars USD on Amazon.
