Okay, for those of you who frequent the X-Books sub-forum here you might have seen my topic a couple of days ago that was asking for help figuring out where a quote came from. The thing is, I'm not sure anymore if it was an X-Men quote, and it's really driving me crazy so I was hoping that widening the scope to the entire Marvel Universe might help lol. I hope the mods are okay with me starting this discussion here, because it is very possible it is not an X-Character that said it. If not I'm sure you'll let me know lol.

Basically the quote involves someone with the power to manipulate probability saying something to the effect of:

"Even the most well maintained of guns misfires occasionally"

to someone who has a gun trained on them, after which the assailant obviously ignores the would-be victim's warning and owns themselves when their gun backfires into their hand.

This has been driving me absolutely crazy. I don't know who said this or where it came from, and the unfortunate thing is I've been reading so many different books lately that I don't even really have a place to start looking. I mean it could feasibly have come from JMS' Thor for all I know lol.

The three probability manipulators that came to my mind (as I've read books with them in them lately) were:

-(Ultimate) Scarlet Witch
-(Ultimate) Longshot
-Domino

Which were all X-Characters at one point, but it's possible that I'm forgetting someone, because I've read a freaking lot of comics lately.

uncannyxmen.net actually lists every instance of Scarlet Witch using her hex powers in the spotlight they have on her, and I'm fairly certain we can rule her out because I couldn't find any issues involving a gun misfiring that I would have had access to (old Avengers/West Coast Avengers type stuff). That doesn't exclude Ultimate Scarlet Witch, and the list might be incomplete of course, but at least it's a start.

I've found two examples of Longshot causing a gun to backfire in my research with some help from the X-Book boards: once in X-Factor #43 when that lady held someone hostage and in Ultimate X-Men during the Most Dangerous Game arc (can't think of the issue number right now), but both lacked the monologue before hand that I'm looking for.

So there you have it. Any help anyone else could offer would be phenomenal :).
