View Full Version : Your favorite Akatsuki member

Dark Soul # 7

They've been responsible for a majority of the conflicts in the second part of Naruto. Together they have the power to dominate entire village. And while they've had their ups and down they been pretty awesome and done their job as villains.

So who is your favorite Akatsuki member?

I'm counting from the first ten official members that were revealed to us.

EDIT: Crap, somehow I missed the poll. Oh well.

I can't decide, it's a tossup between Itachi and Pain.

Pein, definitely.

You know the villain's good when you can't wait to see him die.

The first two, Itachi and Kisame.

Itachi because there was such a shroud of mystery behind him, along with (at the time) a motive that seemed half-baked and a story that wasn't told the whole way through. Like most characters in this sort of role, his presence was very powerful, mostly because besides his powers, we had no idea what kind of person he really was. We just knew that the guy embodied the mantra of 'Holy shit, UCHIHA' in each of his appearances.

Of course, we know now, but that story was told by a guy who keeps pulling things out of his ass. Itachi's dead, and allegedly his story's come full circle, but I still want to know more.

Kisame also had a bit of a plot thread behind him tying into established history. One of the seven swordsmen of Mist, he killed the Daimyo of water country, and he's a bad mofo. That's all we really know about him, and it works. Brutal, efficient, but all his stuff tends to happen off-screen, which is a shame.

Basically, the master and the monster. Both of them were scary individually, and also implied greater things to come.

Sasori.

No idea why. Still think he was jobbed out.

Honorable Mentions:

Sasori - Provided Pain and Madara and Konan were out of the way, and Orochimaru did not come back, I can see Sasori leading Akatsuki, and doing it well.

Kisame - Sharkman rocks as hard as Jaws. You know, as soon as you see him, that he can tear things up.

Orochimaru - Could be a final boss all on his own. Has the history to be noteworthy.

Actual Favorite:

Pain.

Claims to be a god. Backed up the statement, probably enough to qualify for a minor deity at the least. Took a long series of one-hit-kill techniques to render him temporarily harmless, and would have continued on that level if not for a change of heart. Pain simply was on another level compared to pretty much everyone else.

Special Mention:

Konan, one of the few characters that would not only instantly lose to Yomiko Readman, but pull an "ends with sex" loss as well. (Yomiko's power works thusly: she loves paper, and paper loves her. Alot.)

I kinda like the idea of him planning to kill the rest of Akatsuki to make them his puppets, but that's just me.

Hidan was my favorite.

When he had his head cut off and he's still bitchin' out Kakuzu & the Leaf ninjas is one of my favorite scenes.

I'll probably go with Kisame the shark guy. For reasons that I'm not sure of. He is one of the remaining members still alive currently.

I like Itachi the most.... the mystery and the power.

I even like the way he fought, he barely moved the whole fight the first the we saw him. It looked so cool.... he just had a effortless air about him ya know?

....I wanted to vote for Tobi.

And Madara don't count, the two of them were distinctly separate identities even if they were the same character.

I know but he looked so smooth the first time he hit the scene. I liked the first time the best.

It was never quite the same again though.... his clone lost to Naruto and company. He threw the fight with Sasuke.... needed help with Pain. We never really see that same effortlessness again.

Effortlessness is ok in the first fight. But after that I kind want to see some effort and exertion on the villain's side.

Orochimaru, than a tie between Itachi and Pain.

Least favorite is Madara, seriously Aizen 2.0, he was alot better off as his Tobi personality.

Nowhere NEAR as annoying as Aizen.

Aizen at least had style and was a good villain before the Arrancar mess.
Madara was never a good villain to begin with.
IMO the last boss should have been either Pain or Orochimaru.

I'm going to go with Pain. Versatile in battle, and with a sheer presence out of it that Tobi hasn't matched. Honestly, that masked guy pretending to be Madara was kind of a downgrade so far.

Sasori. As opposed to other members who seem to fall back on a major genetic power they have, Sasori seems more like a truly skilled member who put actual ingenuity (not to mention reconstructive surgery) into developing his own abilities which gives him a variety of combat options for just about any conflict. And none of those awesome tricks of his seem broken at all, which is a bonus.

I like Itachi the most.... the mystery and the power.

Of course he came off as effortless. When you have one of the most absurdly powerful blood limits in the Naruto-verse - one that works merely by LOOKING at your enemy no less - you can practically sleep your way to victory. (though I'll admit I'm a hypocrite in that I wish things were that easy for me as well)

Not really, the guy was good not because he had a sharingan. The guy was good because he was that good, a fact that is implied and outright stated many times in the manga.

Nagato is closer to the guy who is ridiculously powerful because he has an overpowering bloodline.

Alright. Maybe I'm being unfair to the Uchichas, especially considering that blindness is a consequence of spamming Sharingan (or spamming its more powerful techniques at least). So I guess being an Uchicha and managing to keep both your (original) eyes through your entire career as a Shinobi does mean you know your shit.

Hell, he managed to form handseals while having a HtH battle against Sasuke without Sasuke noticing. While partially blind and dying from the plot disease.

Nagato deserves props though for his mastery of use with the Pain Rikudo. Can you even begin to wrap your head around the insanity of seeing, hearing, touching, even talking though six bodies at once, cooridnating all of their movements and reactions--even more, sometimes all in completely different places in completely different battles or conversations at once (as in the Konoha invasion).

No wonder she was hanging out with Nagato. And had a piercing...

Oh snap, she was the Papercut Path, representing the most secret and worst of the Buddhist Hells, where all obstructive bureaucrats must spend ten thousand thousand years until they find the single Leave of Absence requisition form in an ocean of Notices of Mandatory Overtime.
