Siege is looking real good. Happy to see an end to all this craziness the past seven years. It's also nice to see Captain America back in the mix immediately after his "rebirth". 2010 is looking to start off on a good note!

Anybody notice the preview text for Thor? It looks like even after the Cabal one shot in December, Loki and Doom are still in Asgard when Siege begins.
THE FINAL BATTLE!
Dr. Doom has committed barbaric atrocities against the Asgardians living in his realm of Latveria. Now Balder has marshaled his forces, and called upon the counsel of his general, Tyr, the God of War. Even the outcast Thor has rallied to the defense of his people. But what secret weapon has Doom wrought with secrets plundered from Asgard?! And whose side is the duplicitous Loki truly on…?

I'm utterly amazed that the Asgardians were stupid enough to think moving in with Dr. Doom was a good idea in the first place. If they're that stupid, they frankly deserve to be sieged.
Anyways, Loki must have one hell of a scheme under his belt. Playing Osborn is nothing... but he's playing Dr. Freaking Doom. Loki is definately the star of the Cabal.
CAPTAIN AMERICA #602

He's a great character... I didn't think there was any chance he'd just fade into limbo.
Hopefully he'll get his own book down the line. It's sort of a shame Cap couldn't return a little sooner. I think it would have been cool if they slip the numbering of the book around issue 50/600.... maybe Bucky could continue with 51 and Cap could continue at 601.
I don't know who Abraham Lincoln is going to unload on but I want to read that comic.

Hey, Loser.
Quit complaining about cancelled titles and enjoy/praise/revel in the greatness of the dozens of titles/cross-overs/one-shots that Marvel DOES produce every month.
When I was but a lad comic book fanboy I never would complain when my favorite book was cancelled. I would simply accept the news quietly and appreciate all the many issues I was blessed with.
In fact, this one time I was at a comic book convention and some little kid had this idea - she asked "wouldn't it be great if Barbie & My Little Pony had a crossover!!!"
If she had asked that question nowadays, she would laughed out of the convention hall with tears streaming down her face.
Comic book fans used to be better people back in the day . . .
Edit: And if there were ever rumors about the cancellation of one of my own titles you can be sure I would be man-enough to come back here in this very forum and let y'all know what the truth is. Never would I lie to my fans, or string them along needlessly when rumors of cancellation are being strewn about.

Yeah... I think people are laying it a bit on thick with Doom too. Hopefully he won't get jobbed out too much in all these appearances.
The reasons all these people want to use Doom in the first place is because unlike a lot of villains he's got cred... but if they job him out, he'll lose the very thing which makes him desirable to use in the first place.

I don't know what to think. I've been needing to cut titles badly, and while I AM interested to see how Dark Reign ends...this Siege looks like a convenient place to drop some titles. And I don't follow Thor...at all. So a Thor-centric event kind of turns me off a bit.
I don't know for sure yet butt I'll probably just drop my all my titles that are tied in the event.
And I couldn't tell...was the Tbolts crossing over with the Agents of Atlas - or are they just fighting them. As much as I like the Tbolts, a crossover with a book I'm not interested will give me a convenient place to end that title as well.

I agree that there is a danger as Xpac says. Too many "L's" instead of "W's" and he loses what little credibility any villain has. Most are pre-destined not to succeed by traditional comic book morality.
It is curious why there's been such a concentration of appearances in several titles. Characters like Doom, Namor and Doctor Strange are powerfully iconic in Marvel but currently have no solo title of their own. So in a way, Marvel is giving the fans a monthly by appearing in various titles or periodically giving them mini series.

funny you should mention that since knee pads have always been a part of Doom's classic look. they came in real handy when that emaciated old Master of Doom showed up. and what's so special about some decrepit b@stard manhandling another old geezer? wake me up after they've changed his adult diaper.

Not kneepads... they're points of articulation for flexibility. MOD still got outplayed in the end. I have no idea why hitch made him look like a walking cadaver. Maybe he saw that traveling exhibit of dead bodies.

Old Man Doom rules even if he is senile. He probably invented indestructible underwear like the ones NASA had on the last shuttle flight. biggrin: I think Magneto wears Spanx so he can suck it in under the spandex.

EDIT: Double post. Can't find the delete button for this. My apologies.
I doubt it, it`ll probably have something to do with Dragon of the Moon or whatever it`s called.

Thanos? Hmm, hadn't thought of that.
But I doubt it. As TOAA says, it's likely to do with the deal Phyla made with the Dragon back in #12.

Hrm. Okay. I think I missed that issue so I wasn't aware of the situation.
Still, it would be a cool re-entry for the character.

i 'd like to re-entry there too...
Thanos already returned in Pet Avengers though (unless that doesn't count).

Man, Thanos gets mentioned on these boards a lot. He must've become interesting somehow while I was away. What're his good stories?

He was always interesting.

uncanny x-men 520
x-force 23
x-men: legacy 232
cable 22
x-factor 201
maybe:
siege 1
nation x: x-factor one-shot
i don't really know how i feel about siege. i don't read any of the avengers books, but i did pick up the main house of m, civil war & secret invasion minis so i feel like if this is the last chapter of those big storylines i should get it. i also really enjoy coipel's work. we'll see. if i do pick it up i'll likely only pick up the main 4 issue series, though.
i decided to pick up siege but not the nation x: x-factor one-shot.
siege seems it'll be something i shouldn't pass up on, and if i'm only getting the 4 issue main series it's not going to be that much more in addition to my normal pull list.
the x-factor one-shot seems like it'll probably be filler; given that the team has recently relocated to nyc we kind of already know that they're not going to move to utopia. if i hear good things i may pick it up later, though. i did enjoy the quicksilver & layla miller one-shots from a while back.
