I couldn't imagine that the last year and half or so has gone by w/o a thread about this animated series, - i looked before posting but didn't find anything.
I recently bought the 1st season on DVD, watched all the episodes in quick order, and i've gotta say, -this is a really great series. I had been leery about b/c at first consideration i thought it was going to be exclusively for a very young target audience, -but it managed to keep both me and my son enthralled.
It does a great job of adhering to most of the canonical Spider-Man, - and seemed to part ways on only a few trivialities, - plenty of story arcs with a wide variety of villains. The arc i was most impressed with was the Spider-Man/Alien Costume --Eddie Brock/Venom story. (specifically Episode 12: Intervention)
The stories preserve the mythos of the original Lee/Ditko run, the animation production has come up with a design that is aesthetically pleasing to watch. Witty dialogue, solid voice work, elaborately well structured season. Great show for all ages.
Best Spidey animated adaptation ever.
