What do you think is Scorcese's best movie?

For me, I'd have to say Taxi Driver, with The Departed as a close second.

My favourite is actually The Last Waltz but objectively, I would say Goodfellas is his best.

Goodfellas with Casino a close second... DeNiro and Pesci, y' know...

All answers that are not Raging Bull are objectively wrong.

Raging Bull. De Niro's performance is scorching, and this is where the Joe Pesci template is set. Throw in an awesome soundtrack, Scorsese's best camerawork by far, and a ferocious but pitiful ending, and I think you easily have Scorsese's best movie.

Also, although it has a lot of great scenes, Goodfellas is kinda overrated.

The off thing about Raging Bull is that I think it's an absolute masterpiece but I despised every moment of it. I just hated spending any time at all with the main character.

I agree with everything in your first paragraph. I disagree with the second.

Not sure where this school of thought that Goodfellas is overrated comes from....if anything it's the opposite.

Glad to see no one threw any votes to those last few films on the list.

I think he is the greatest living film maker and I'm sure their are many of his works that are technically better.

But I've watched Gangs of New York over 10 times so that's my vote

Are you kidding? It's one of the most highly praised films of the last 20 years.

Not many share my opinion, but the voice overs in Goodfellas are annoying.

Raging Bull > Goodfellas > Taxi Driver > Casino > Gangs of NY >>>>>> the rest

Raging Bull is as near to perfect as any movie I've ever seen, so it gets my vote. Goodfellas, Taxi Driver, and Mean Streets are all wonderful as well, but I have a soft spot in my heart for Bringing Out the Dead. Vastly under-rated.

I guess I'm in the minority but I like The King Of Comedy.

Well, I wouldn't say it's his best but it's a damn fine piece of work anyway.

Raging Bull with taxi Driver a very close second.

The worst of all time The Age of Innocence. I actually fell asleep in the theatre watching this one, woke up and it was still going on and I'm normally a big fan of period movies.

I really Love Gangs of New York.

Gangs of New York is one of Scorsese's most uncompromising movies, but DiCaprio and Diaz look like a couple of boring retards beside Daniel Day-Lewis.

Much to my shame, I still havent seen Raging Bull.

I can get behind it somewhat, it does seem to falter a bit when Henry gets all involved with cocaine.

Definitely Goodfellas, closely followed by The Departed.

And The Last Waltz is great.

Raging Bull. It's Scorsese's most well developed, well thought and at the same time he's most personal film (according to himself). He's at his prime as a filmmaker there, and it's better than the others both in a technical and emotional level.

The last time I watched Goodfellas it didn't do much for me... Taxi Driver is brilliant. Raging Bull is brilliant. Gangs of New York is hard to watch because of the aforementioned retards next to Day Lewis.

I liked The Departed but fucking DeCaprio sucks.

No, Khundun is by far the worst thing ever associated with Scorcese. I dare you to try stay awake through all of it. The only way to do so is if you watch the movie while sitting on a heated stove.

I'll say Cape Fear is his worst.

I'll say Cape Fear is his worst.

Cape Fear is incredibly hard to watch if for no other reason than the original is so brilliant.

But there are plenty of other reasons.

Confession: I haven't seen the original.

As far as I am concerned, it is the only movie Juliette Lewis was ever good in.

No, I'd have to say Whip It then Kalifornia.

Scorcese is simply brilliant but my favorite is The Departed followed by Goodfellas, Raging Bull then the rest.

"Taxi Driver". The only movie that even came close to showing the isloation of impending madness to the degree of "Taxi Driver" is "Maniac". Seriously, I know that this may not speak well for ME as a person, but I've had MANY days walking down the street where I've caught myself havingTravis Bickle thoughts....Someday, a real rain is gonna come.......

I think Taxi Driver and Raging Bull are his two masterpiece.

But my favorite to watch is Goodfellas. I've watched it so many times for the fun characters to cool dialogue, tons of machizmo. It's like the guys from Mean Streets being successful and having the time of their lives being rich mob killers.
