Is the industry relying too much on just CGI?

I think they have, certainly in the past when CGI was all new and shiny. But I feel things are starting to balance out again. Things like Hellboy and Underworld mix up CGI with traditional effects, and I think we're starting to see more of a happy medium. At least in live action.

In animation though, not so much. Sure, we still have traditional cartoons, but as for animated features, well, it seems like the only ones still doing 2D animated films are the Japanese, and whoever did the Simpsons movie. Which is sad, because many of my old favorite movies were traditional animation. A lot of old Disney movies, and a few others, like Little Nemo in Slumberland (which I prefer vastly to Finding Nemo).
