Good. Ryan Reynolds is overrated white trash. One freak accident and now he's Deadpool. O-V-E-R-R-A-T-E-D by a mile. I even know a coworker who's friend apparently worked as a show runner with him in the past! HIY MARIA!
This is an unfortunate developent for the local film industry. I know there were a lot of people counting on this film.

You realize they're still shooting the movie with him, right? Just not in Australia?

Exactly. I've read that they are probably going to shoot in Mexico.

Do they know that Michigan has some amazing tax breaks for film productions in the state? Basically you get 40% back of every dollar you spend on the production, including wages paid to Michigan residents. Need a set for Ferris Air? Try the former K.I.Sawyer Air Force Base near Marquette. Got scenes set in Coast City? We still got Detroit. Beach scenes? Dude, we have more waterfront than California. Dramatic mid-air fight scenes? How about around the Mackinac Bridge? The movie's Canadian star will be happy to see that Canadian coins are accepted on par with US coins by local merchants. If Australia, Mexico, and Canada are all viable options, so is Michigan... and without the hassles of international travel for US-based personnel.

THR cited sources believing "Green Lantern" may move to Mexico or Canada.
If they're moving production from Australia because the value of the Australian dollar vs the US dollar is too high, then it really doesn't make sense to move production to Canada.
The Oz dollar is worth about $0.92US while the Canadian is worth $0.97.

That's sort of obvious. We can't afford to pay anyone for anything here any more. :frown:

Batman filmed in Chicago, Iron Man in LA, Spider-Man in LA.
Is it really cheaper to move the production a month before filming?
This looks like they're trying to make this low budget.
Not a good sign.

Didn't Bats film in like Chicago, Tokyo and Liverpool? That film had the budget of the God's.

The Dark Knight had a budget of around 200 million I believe. London and Chicago are not the cheapest places to film.
Rumours that it might be coming here to Toronto are strong. We have the proper facilities, better studios for big budget feature than we did a few years ago. We also have very generous tax credits. For a city that is supposed to be cosmopolitan, Toronto fits the bill. I couldn't help but notice that Superman Returns was just filled with white people on the streets.

it may film something in Canada. But the majority of it will be in Louisiana(they already have a deposit on locations)
They will also film some in New Mexico.
Louisiana has the best tax incentive around next to New Mexico. Then GA, PA, then Michigan.
Louisiana will also have some good spots for Coast City. picking Louisiana was the smart thing to do
