View Full Version : Roger Stern / Lee Weeks - "Something can stop the Juggernaut"
Okay, I decided to create a thread on this storyline. When the heck is it coming out? I remember Roger mentioning it last year when his ASM #580 was coming out. Since then, nada. I'm starting to get impatient!

Me too. I was really stoked when I heard the news. I loved Stern's recent ASM story and although I doubt he'll top the original Juggernaut story, he will still do no wrong.

I'm not positive, but I think they said it's one of those stories that editorial is holding onto when they need to fill-in a gap between the main story lines. So in case the schedule falls apart this can be put in.

That's kind of a bummer.
Is this a single issue type deal? I could have sworn I read it was a full three issue arc somewhere.

http://www.imwan.com/phpBB3/images/smilies/icon_shush.gif Patience, please.
All three issues have been plotted since February. Lee has finished the first issue...and I guess the second one (haven't seen that yet), as he told me that he's now working on the third issue.
Once Lee is finished, and I get to start scripting the pages, then Steve Wacker will be able to tell us where it's going to go.
Besides, while I've been waiting, I've written the YOUNG ALLIES special, the Aunt May story for AMAZING SPIDER-MAN FAMILY #7, and a story for CAPTAIN AMERICA #600...all of which wound up going on sale the same week this past June. Go figure!
In the meantime, I've plotted another single-issue story for AMAZING SPIDER-MAN. Don't know who is drawing that one.
And I'm currently about halfway through plotting a 4-issue miniseries...which (who knows?) might very well wind up being scheduled before the three-part Spider-Man/Juggernaut story that I first started over a year ago.
Unless they come out at the same time.
Hey, ya never know. Comics is a funny business. http://www.imwan.com/phpBB3/images/smilies/icon_rimshot.gif

Does anyne else think that lower left panel on the 1st page looks like an homage to Gil Kane's depiction of Spider-Man? I swear I saw this in the Death of Gwen Stacy tpb. If it's not in 121-122, it's in those Harry Osborn drug issues somewhere. Can anyone confirm this?

Seems like a perfect way to show use of continuity without making it jarring and confusing to a Spider-Man reader.

I don`t think Lee Weeks did a homage of Gil Kane art in that panel.
Usually homages are done from covers of comics,or important moments from a story.
That Gil Kane panel is well painted,(as all his work in ASM),but is just a close shot of Spider-Man.
So only a close shot of Spider-Man looks a bit of a stretch to be something a artist would make a homage from.
And the angle used by Lee Weeks in his panel is diferent from Gil Kane pannel.

It would be just great if Roger Stern was part of the team of writers in ASM.
His experience writing cool Spider-Man stories would make a valid contribuition to the writing quality of the book to balence the stories from writers that have not write many stories with Spider-Man so far as Van Lente.

Juggernaut must be getting used to crash-landing in New York City. Didn't Onslaught bop him there clear from Canada? I imagine him sailing along, thinking to himself, "Yup, there's Stokes State Forest, I'm over Pennsylvania now..."
What's Juggernaut's reasons for being bad these days again? At times he seems like a glorified thug -- smarter than Rhino, but what's he after in life?

I think they are trying to say that to have the full power of Cyttorak he has to be bad and destructive. This was kind of the deal he made to get his full power back in World War Hulk: X-men.
Then there was the issue of X-Men Legacy where Xavier went to him and at the end of it Xavier said he didn't think redemption was possible for Cain.
