Buying Songs: Lossless Downloads?

Do any sites legally sell lossless wav albums? Are you stuck with some sort of player or can you transfer them on your Mp3 player of choice, that would be ideal!

I ask, cause there's alot of discontinued EPs I'd be interested in buying but I don't want to pay 50$-70$ for a collectable when none of that money goes to the artist. And 256 kbps offends my ears and amazon seems stuck on that encoding setting.

Some sites sell .flac* files as well as MP3s, but I don't know which ones.

*Free Lossless Audio Codec. Smaller file size than a .wav, but without any loss of sound quality. You can burn them to a CD and it will sound exactly the same as the CD they were ripped from.
