As an offshoot of the discussion on "Justice League Big Seven Yay or Nay" thread, it would be fun to see one on the concept of the DC Trinity - Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman.

I for one am a big fan of the Trinity as a whole. I think it's nice that at the superhero community these three represent the cream of the crop and the best of the best.

Even superheroes always discuss things like "What would Clark or Bruce or Diana do?"

No one asks "What would Arthur do?" Except perhaps Tempest.

I believe that the Trinity should be the cornerstone of the DCU.

Let's also list as many Trinity stories we can think of:

@ Trinity (Weekly series)
@ Trinity (3 issue-miniseries)
@ Infinite Crisis
@ 52 (well it dealt with their absence so that counts)
@ Justice League Unlimited (The TV Show. Opening credits shows the Trinity in prominent places. Plus the final scene has the Trinity running together.)

Can anyone point out the "first" official acknowledgment that there is a "Big Trinity"? The earliest I can find is the Justice League Unlimited show.

No, they ask 'what does he do???'

Didn't the Wagner mini pre-date the cartoon?

The Trinity AREADY IS the cornerstone of the DCU but despite the sometimes great written dialouge between the three it sometimes seems too forced to try to make them equal just like th recent Batman/Superman movie.

Shouldn't these posts come with polls... just to make it easier to take the pulse?

I reckon it's a big fat nay for me. Seems forced. Bats and Supes are up there, but Wondy is a still a square peg in a (I can't believe I'm saying this) round hole.

I'm all for the teaming up of DC's most iconic characters, though I think there's a lot that is yet to be explored with the dynamic between the three. I'd love to see a storyline that a) goes deeper into their interpersonal relationships with each other - how does Wonder Woman's presence change the dynamic between Superman & Batman? Questions like that, and also perhaps even more interaction with them as their alter egos. I guess I'd like to see the three of them interact more during "downtime" rather than in the midst of a huge crisis (not that I'm anti-huge-crisis, mind you); b) brings the extended families of the Trinity together, especially since DC seems to be working so hard to build an extended family for Superman right now, and c) builds and establishes an extended family for Wonder Woman that is as identifiable and has the potential for being as interesting as what's been created for the other two members of the Trinity.

Having said all that, I guess it's obvious to add that I was a big fan of how the three were handled in Kingdom Come; meanwhile, couldn't really warm up too much to the Trinity series.
