This thread is all about celebrating those much maligned bounty hunters Spat and Grovel. Did they make you laugh? Did they make you cry? post in your favourite moments with the "wacky" pair.

We can only dream that they will one day return...

I remember they had an action figure of the pair, which made me laugh.

The Marketing possibilities of the characters were practically limitless. A child and an alien lizard! whats not to love. By rights they should have made Marvel millions.

Landscape was ace, I agree. By now he should have at least led an X-team.

She was a child? I thought she was an adult, 4'2", blonde cutie -- she was drawn like one:wink:

Actually now I come to think about it. Between Spat and child-Storm there's a lot of dodgy evidence mounting up against Gambit

She was, in fact, an adult who got shot with a de-aging weapon which was slowly reverting her to a baby... and that was Gambitīs fault.

This is true but didn't they reverse it in an on-line comic (I sadly didn't read it so I'm not sure)

Yes, Gambit used the Tomorrow Stone to stop her de-ageing, beating that one Sekmeth to it...

Did we ever get more info on Grovel? I'd of loved to know his story...

does anyone know if these online comics are collected anywhere? i remember reading some of them on marvel.com in the 90s but i haven't seen them since. the one i remember reading had wolverine with bone claws and the bandana, so i'm guessing it was around 1997 or so.

on topic, i thought spat & grovel were fun but nothing too memorable. i could see them popping up in a gambit story at some point but probably nowhere else.

The petition starts here for a Spat and Grovel (featuring Gambit) ongoing series.

Does anyone think Spat and Grovel should join one of the X-teams?

I think they'd be perfect in X-force.

Then you've missed out. Spat and Grovel are Ace and well worth an Origins movie.

He'd never leave Spat and we know it. Still a Grovel, Spat and Shortpack limited series would be fantastic.

I always thought Spat and Grovel got a bum deal on this. They were all locked up by nanny at the time, its not as if Spat and Grovel went dogging. If anything Rogue and Gambit shouldn't have been so exhibitionist, but then I always suspected that their show-off factor would extend to their sex life.

Just wondered whether or not anyone thinks that Spat and Grovel might make an appearance in the third part of the messiah trilogy. It would be so interesting to get their take on Hope etc

Spat appeared in the Marvel Fault: Gambit one-shot released last week.
Written by Scott Lobdell, didn't reveal anything new tough, but it's fun to see Lobdell didn't forget about her.

I have not gotten that comic yet but thats so sad.
I saw the preview and was hoping for some good Spat background! I liked her.
Grovel is okay, I wonder if he is a mutant or something else entirely.

We learned that Spat was a mutie hating femme fatale. All she did the entire issue was assault mutants

I'm reading through my uncannys in order and just yesterday i got to 345-350. Totally forgot about these 2.

Does it make sense that they show up just as Maggott did and nothing significant has been done with either set of characters since pretty much their first appearance.

I never noticed that there was a Spat & Grovel thread!

How awesome is it that this guy Daniel Campos decided to put together this drawing (a few years back) of Spat & Grovel after looking at the action figures he had up on his shelf?

Yes, Gambit used the Tomorrow Stone to stop her de-ageing, beating that one Sekmeth to it...

Now, did that revert her to her previous, 25-year-old self, or simply stop her from getting any younger?

Was it ever established what exactly Grovel was? A mutant? A deviant? An iguana evolved by the High Evolutionary? Was he a solo bounty hunter before he met Spat? And how did he hook up with Spat anyway? Who had the deaging gun that hit Spat?

There are so many questions about these two. We should totally be (politely) harassing James Asmus until he uses these two in his Gambit series.
