It's nice to see that anyone who happens to wear glasses at some point in their career could pass for Clark Kent. The guy who played Urkel will be overjoyed to hear this. As will John Hodgman. And Wilford Brimley. And Tina Fey...
Seriously though, I don't see it. And let's not forget that this is a dual role, you need to be able to pull off both. I don't see Quinto as Superman either.

He was referring to the specific dual role of Kent/Superman. The actor needs to be able to play both Kent and Superman and he doesn't think Quinto can do either.

Eddie Murphy played 5 or 6 different people in The Nutty Professor, does that mean he'd make a good Clark Kent/Superman too?
Just because Quinto has played a dual role doesn't necessarily mean he'd make a good Clark Kent/Superman (and I think there's a wider contrast of alter egos in that combo than the Gabriel/Sylar one). Your entire argument so far is based on a single picture of him wearing glasses and a few minutes of screen time as him being Gabriel Grey. Based on that and everything else I've seen Quinto in, I'm not convinced.

He does look and sound a bit like Routh's Superman, but that's about it.
Besides, he's kind of busy with both Sylar and probably playing Spock in the Star Trek sequels.

No. Absolutely not.
Zod, maybe. Not Clark/Superman.

Too young for Zod IMO.

Quite frankly, it's a terrible idea.
He might be a good Bruce Banner, however.

Isn't enough of a nerd cred to get to play Mr Spock?

It really "should" be enough nerd cred to pull of Spock while Nimoy is still alive. Quinto could avoid playing genre roles beyond Spock and Sylar from here on out and I would say that would be just fine. I don't think Quinto is Kent/Superman material, though. I agree he's not old enough for Zod and doesn't work as Luthor. I suppose Quinto might make a more compelling Toy Man or Metallo if we're going to talk Superman roles, though it depends on what versions of the characters we're talking about. I'd say that he is so widely known as Sylar and is getting known as Spock is why Kent is an impossible jump for him even if I thought he was a good fit for the role.
Welling nails Clark and Superman every week and Rosenbaum's Luthor is the most nuanced and subtle one I've seen on screen (not that he's a better actor than Spacey or Hackman, he's just had more dimension in the role).
Why they don't pony up the necessary dough for the actors to get over the "I don't want to be Superman/Lois/Luthor forever" and transition Smallville into movies I don't know? 10 million dollars and Welling puts on the cape and tights no problem. Considering the last movie cost 200 million spending some bucks on a proven Superman might not be a bad idea.
And Quinto's angular features and perpetual five oclock shadow make him wayyyyy too sinister looking for the role.
