View Full Version : starting out
A local shop is planning to expand its videostore with a comic book section. They are looking for someone to buy the comics for them to sell in their store. There will be a budget i get to spend on buying the comics.
I've applied (though i don't have the job yet).
I've spend over 20 years collecting comics and i'm an illustrator myself with some minor experience in comics but that's about the extend of my relevant work experience.
I could use a few pointers on how to get this started, where to buy, what to focus on, etc. Hope i can get some answers here.
Ps. I live in the netherlands.

Okay, so I have no business commenting, but I'm going to anyway. I think pretty much everything comes from Diamond Distributors (as far as what is in print). They have contracts will tons of companies.

Might be worth checking out. I know that Mile High Comics gets all of thier back stock from buying large collections from comic stores going out of business or private collections. I plan on being burried with mine in a long box so my private collection will not be up for sale.
Diamond has a minimum order of about $400 monthly I think. I don't know about their international policies, but they are super cool about setting up new accounts. I know they work with a lot of web based businesses. Pretty much if you are buying a TPB online, whoever you are buying it from is getting it from Diamond. I'm not sure if this is just US or not. If these folks are looking for back issue or just random collections, I guess EBay (?). What are they looking to sell?
