I just read U.S. by Alex Ross, it's a story about Uncle Sam and focus' America's ugly parts and it's seems that Steve Rogers and James Barnes see the bad but fight for the good they know is also there.
I think that a cross over between Uncle Sam and the Captains America Steve and James would be pretty cool. Or a Freedom Fighters meets the Invaders.
Any thoughts?

I like Uncle Sam (in general and as a DC hero), but I never liked the rest of the Freedom Force. They seemed cheap and garish compared to the Invaders or the JSA. However, I thought that it was pretty cool the way DC and Marvel did that unofficial Freedom Force/Invaders crossover back in the '70s, where thinly-disguised versions of each team showed up in the other team's comic in the same month, with both of those teams called The Crusaders.

That's cool as hell. I see Dick Ayers at most of the cons and now I have something to chat with him about.

It would certainly make for an interesting inter-company crossover. But to make it stand out, you'd need the difference of perspectives over the decades, I would think. Cap, Bucky and the Freedom Fighters would have pretty much the same perspectives during a WWII storyline. I would like to see the story starting out in a 1940's setting, some war-time scenario told in flashback, then compare their perspectives in the modern era. Of course, Alex Ross covered that ideological spectrum pretty well in his Uncle Sam mini, so anything done now would be almost redundant.

An Invaders/Freedom Fighters team-up would not work because DC is far stranger and less in keeping with reality than Marvel- I mean, they had Lex Luthor as Presient, for pete's sake!
How lame.
Even back in their WWII, DC is far less "real" than Marvel's past.
I look forward to an Invaders reunion though- the original Torch and Toro are back, Bucky's back, Steve's back. Spitfire is still running around, as is Namor....
They could talk about how the world has gone down the crapper since WWII and what they should do about it.
I'd have the current Union Jack on board, of course- he's a great character and would contrast their "old school" viewpoint nicely.
