Damian behind bars? Red Robin surrounded? Batman facing off against two new foes? This batch of covers, featuring the artistic stylings of J.H. Williams III, Tony Daniel, Dustin Nguyen and Marcus To, is light on answers but big on questions. But isn’t that what they’re for?

Take a few minutes from your day and peruse the January covers for BATMAN: STREETS OF GOTHAM, DETECTIVE COMICS, BATMAN and RED ROBIN, won’t you?

It seems Dini returns to SOG for his Zsasz storyline. Batman fighting some sort of Spawn-villain in his solo title, and Detective Comics is featuring Batman instead of Batwoman?

Only one worth commenting on is Detectives.

And it seems he might have some history with the Colonel. Kate's dad.

Interesting.

Which is the Batman cover? The one with Damian behind bars? If so I wonder how Dini would write Damian.....

Thanks, and I expect we'll see what Dini thinks of Damian now but it doesn't look good..

Is the guy on the Batman cover supposed to be the Holocaust survivor who dressed like the Grim Reaper during the O'Neill run? It looks like a star of David on his belt kinda.

Terribly - he's already been writing Damian in SOG.

These covers are pretty boring, can't say there's anything to get excited about... except Adam West in Detective!

That's dissapointing... But then then again he has never shown any love or respect toward Morrison's characters and/or stories besides two panels in Heart of Hush.

Azrael? Lane?

Batman #237

The guy ends up being a Holocaust survivor who's hunting down the man who ran the concentration camp he and his family were in. At the end of the story, he kills the man and then attacks a fellow Jewish man, and realizes that he has become a murderer himself and takes a dive off a cliff.

Terribly - he's already been writing Damian in SOG.

You think so? I really enjoyed Dini's characterization of him in SOG. You didn't get a kick out of the "Fifteen Million for three bedrooms? That's obscene." line?

There's been a couple of good lines here and there, granted, but overall i think it's been pretty bad. Dini's first (?) Damian line in #1 was great too - "May i cut out her tongue?" - but it's been pretty much downhill from there for me. I hated that chess scene with Hush in #1 as well, it just doesn't seem to be the same Damian that Morrison writes.

Why does batman have the yellow oval symbol on that Detective cover?

Why does batman have the yellow oval symbol on that Detective cover?

Probably because it is an image to a flashback to Bruce as Batman? I don't know, the solicit information will likely clear it up. You could ask Greg Rucka or J.H. Williams on their forum/and or blog on their individual websites as well. Just is being an image of Batman does raise a few interesting questions, as this is still during Batwoman's run.

All the covers look pretty good. Streets, and Detective covers are the best...I like the Batman one a lot, too.

Sn4tcH may be right about the bad guy on the cover of Batman. Daniel said he's been reading lots of back issues and plans to use some old villains.

Fantastic covers from JMH3 and Dustine Ngyuen. Damian looks pissed off behind bars

I have no problem with the way Dini writes him.

That's dissapointing... But then then again he has never shown any love or respect toward Morrison's characters and/or stories besides two panels in Heart of Hush.

it's not like he's gone out of his way to ignore or degrade them? they just never figured into his stories. Which is a good thing imo.

Detective Comics is featuring Batman instead of Batwoman?

No, it's continuing Batwoman's origin, which tells how she was earlier inspired by Batman. Notice that the image is inside the Batwoman logo.

What they said. And as I said above, it's Kate's origin story, telling how she was inspired by Batman.

Yep. Check out the cowl, the bat symbol, and the belt. Totally old school Batman ...

I' m really excited for this issue. I hope Rucka gives her a great origin.
